This was an awesome video. My buddy and I want to re-ride this trail tomorrow and be able to see the Grand Canyon this time around. Where should we park ? Last time we parked at Waterville. This time we want a more scenic ride. Can you help ? Thanks

Hi, Jeff. So, I usually park on the end points. The parking lot in Jersey Shore is super easy and has a lot of space. I've left my car for several days with no problem. The last time I rode this, i parked at the northern parking lot near Wellsboro Junction. If you want to leave your car at that spot you need to call the Dept of Forestry (570-724-2868) and give them your info so they don't tow you. If you're just doing a day trip, I suggest parking at Darling Run and heading south. in my humble opinion, that's the most scenic area of the gorge. It's more remote but that's by design. Enjoy the trail--it's amazingly beautiful!!

Thank you for this information! If parking in Jersey Shore and riding north the complete 60+ miles, are there hotels near the trail at the northern end w/o having to take any roads? My wife & I r not road fans.

There are a few BnBs nearby the northern end but if you want to get to Wellsboro, it’s a short road jaunt. I rode it once and it wasn’t too bad. Decent shoulder.

@@RideAlongAdventures You'll have a bit of learning to do if you rent a two-wheeler. A trike has no learning curve, and you don't spend any energy balancing, of course. You just float along in your easy chair. Hills are monstrous, but downhills are glorious. All your time on a trike is great for taking in the sights. You just have to get your constant quest for speed under control, if you have one. The people riding past you with wedges up their butts will leave you in their dust. but they'll have to wear padded shorts and use butt cream while you keep on floating down the trail with a huge smile on your face!!!

Great info. I just watched a previous video about this trail and ordered the Potter-Tioga visitor pack (which includes a trail map). My plan is to do this trail, hopefully with my teen in the next few weeks (now that the weather is cooperating) . I am going to use this trail to entice my teen for other longer rides and to test out our legs for prepping for the Gap trail.

Sounds like a good strategy. My oldest joined me at age 23 for the GAP…it was an unforgettable experience. I’m still working on my younger son. 😉 I’d love to hear how it works out for you.

Bryan, Thanks for your videos. I have ridden hundreds of miles with you (on my LeMond RevMaster Spinner). This last series (C&O), with the milage chart, is terrific. As I mentioned, I have used your videos to plan bike trips and the milage meter will help knowing where you are on the trail in relation to the video. Without recognizable landmarks, it is tough to tell where you are located. I think I remember during one of your videos you stated using videos to help plan your trips. Do you have any favorites (other than your own) that you have found particularly useful. I am a day tripper. I live in NE Ohio thus mostly ride the local trails. I plan to do the New River in Va and the Pine Creek in Pa this summer as my big trips. As you have extensive experience, if you could give some feedback about my Pine Creek plan it would be appreciated. Day one will be Ramsey to Cedar Creek and Back, day 2 Cedar Creek to Ansonia and back. Would I be missing anything that I would be sorry in hindsight? Also do you have any lodging suggestions (I am not a camper). Thanks again. I look forward to future “Ride Along Adventures”! Jack PS I have no experience riding the Pa trails you mentioned. I live close to the Pa border but we have so many trails around here (Little Beaver, Holmes, Mohican, Kokosing, Heart of Ohio, Western Reserve, etc) it is tough to justify driving very far to ride. I also live in the country and have a great 19 mile loop on smooth asphalt roads with literally no traffic starting at the end of my driveway. Sorry I couldn’t repay you with some insight.

Thanks, Jack! Glad we can ride together. 😉 your two day itinerary seems excellent. You’ll get some of the best scenery between those points-esp the gorge area. Lodging: as I shared in the video, I really like the Pettecote Junction campground. They have cabins as well as “glamping” options. Nice folks. Around Slate Run (just south of Cedar Creek) is the Hotel Manor. I’ve never stayed there but I’ve heard it’s nice. Those trails you mentioned in your neck of the woods are on my list. Such a beautiful area-you’re fortunate to have that in your backyard.

Thank you so much for all of your videos. I plan on leaving Ottawa, Canada, next summer and ride to Pittsburgh and then ride the GAP and C&O trails. Both of your videos on those trails will be useful for planning my trip. Time permitting, the sublime Pine Creek trail will be added. ;-)

@@RideAlongAdventures Hard to say.I have about 10 to 12 weeks to play with and I would use Amtrak to come back to Pittsburgh. It will depend since I don't want to rush and, of course, there are the imponderables. I will be planning in January via Komoot and RWGPS so I should get a better idea then. Thanks again. 🤔

Just rode it. 5 mile section closed from Jersey shore up. Resurfacing. Started at Waterville. Support the local businesses. Store at Waterville, Wolfes has great sandwhiches, and Cedar Run for ice cream. Really nice local people. Nice campsites but I stay away from RV parks like Petticoat junction due to past experiences with RV camper, if you can call them campers. Still it looked like a nice convenient place along the trail with nice amenities. The grouped campsites along the trail contain firepits, picnic tables and a central vault toilet. Some have a water pump but I would still take a water treatment system. You have to reserve campsites but they are still first come first serve. ithink that is so they know how many are actually camping along the trail. Take your bug spray as with any waterside trail mosquitoes will chew you up! I had a great time and enjoyed much beautiful scenery. Wonderful to ride without car traffic. Main thing to remember for any popular trail and camping don’t go on a holiday weekend if you like quiet.

There are several options, some of which are fairly close to the trail. Look at: pacanyon.com/Where_to_Stay.html to get more details. The state park is always an option but it's not really at the north end. I love your "handle"--awesome. :)

Thanks for the kind words, Jack. Yes, I am really interested in the Redbank Valley Rail Trail. Honestly, I need to research this more because I know there are so many connectors around there. Armstrong, Baker, etc. Is it possible to make a big cycling loop of those three? Or is Baker more of a hiking trail? (we might need to discuss this privately--so many questions). Beyond that, I've also got the Ghost Town Trail on my list. :) PA is a biker's paradise.

Hey, Jack. (I finally found the way to search for this message in KZitem) I finally got around to the Redbank and I gotta tell ya, it was at the top of the list. I got hit by storms (an older gentleman said it was a tornado warning!) so I had to cut it short but I thought the trail was superb, especially the western side. I actually intend to go back just so I can ride it in its entirety. Thanks again for the recommendation.
