Three tips in Buenos Aires for tourists in Buenos Aires : 1- You go inside the bus by the front and never by the back and that's why the bus driver didn't see you going inside 2-When you have a problem just ask people ( Emily was inteligent to stay in the cafe ) because the most people in Buenos Aires would do anything to help you even when they cannot understand you. 3-Do not use your credit card too much because the exchange rate is not good The best is using cash and so use Western Union as the way to get it. There are many tourists in the internet explaining how it works with WU ) BA is a very big city but it's the first time I see tourists so confused with the directions Anyway I loved that you guys took it so cool Buenos Aires is also a place to chill and ENJOY and you did it great until now !!! 👍

@@JordanandEmily That bus line has pretty good schedule. If he didnt open the front door and point you to the back just mean "TAKE THE NEXT BUS". Is super normal, so the first bus dont get full and then multiple buses of the same line didnt get together to the bus stops with the first being full. The back doors on buses are only to descend, never to go up. The driver was not being reckless or bad, because you only supposed to go in the front. You can go practically everywhere in buenos aires just with buses. there are almost 500 different bus lines between buenos aires and gran buenos aires.

The one who didn’t get on the bus/train stays put & the other goes back to where you were!! Apart from that little hiccup, it looked like a fantastic day. My favourite bit was the tango dancers, I could’ve sat there and watched them all day. She looked beautiful & they made the dance look easy. I can't believe how well you managed to capture what surely must have been a very stressful situation. (For the record, I agree with Jordan that Emily should have waited... with the caveat that, before doubling back, he should also have waited a moment once he got off to see if Emily was on the next bus.) BTW, if you're still in BsAs and can read Spanish, I highly recommend the numismatic museum at the Central Bank. There's actually a special rate for payments by foreign cards. It's called the MEP rate and is only slightly worse than the blue dollar rate. First the money is taken from your account according to the official bank rate and then you get a refund a few days later. So the entrance fee would have been around 5 dollars each, not 20.

I think the rule if you get separated is to return to the last place you were in a group. Jordan left Emily, he should return where they were separated. La Boca is not the birthplace of Tango, which was a dance of the low level neighbourhoods. La Boca (literally "the mouth" of the little river (el Riachuelo) was inhabitad specially from italian inmigrants, most specifically from Genoa, many of them with knowledge of maritime affairs and therefore worked in the port of Buenos Aires. They took the remnants of the paint used for mantainance of the ships. They used that paint for their houses and therefore when they ended one color they followed with another. That's the reason of the colorful houses. Yes. Conventillo is de diminutive of "convento" =convent. In 1872 there was a yellow fever pandemic in the city. The posh families lived south of Plaza de Mayo y the zone of San Telmo-La Boca. The scientist beleived that the yellow fever was caused by infectious airs of the lowlands near the Riachuelo (not bad, it was caused by the mosquito anofeles which grows in waterlands). The posh families moved to higher grounds to the north in the San Nicolás/Retiro/Recoleta neighbourhouds which had higher grounds. The inmigrants rented rooms in the abandoned houses, sharing bathrooms and kitchents. These amassed people made of families living in one room helped to melt all nationalities, cuisine, traditions of the inmigrants. Argentina is one of the few countries without racial or religious unrest. We have a very big comunity of jews and also a muslim one, but they live in harmony. Pope Francis, former achibishop of Buenos Aires held ecumenic prayers where catholic, protestants, jews and muslim chiefs prayed together in the Cathedral, main synagoge or other temples of the other religions. The bar of chocolate in the submarino does not float, it sinks. It's the submarine in the "submarino". You stir the hot milk till the chocolate complety melts in the glass (it's a special glass held in a metal little cup to be able to lift the hot glass) and drink it. The main inmigration in Argentina is from Italy, second Spain. Buth in the ende of XIX century french culture and architecture were considered the best. Every rich family brought architects and materials from France to build their mansions. Now most of those mansions are public buildings, clubs, embassies or residences of ambassadors of different countries. For example in Avenida Alvear you start with the French Embassy, The Duahu house wich is the top level of a hotel, the Jockey Club and the residence of the Brazilian ambassador, all around a little square with a nice monument with bronze statues in Cerrito St and Alvear Avenue. Plaza de Mayo is surrounded by important buildings like Casa Rosada (President of Argentina), Banco Nación Argentina (National Bank), Other banks (you should enter to see the unbelivable decoration in the halls), the Cathedral (catholic) where is the tomb of the main national hero San Martín, the City Hall (of the city government), the Cabildo (colonial city hall), and other public buildings. The Plaza de Mayo is for demonstrations. The celebrations of sport championships are usually held around the Obelisco, which can be seen on the other end of the north diagonal avenue that start in Plaza de Mayo.

The correct answer is, get off at the next stop. If you wait to make it to the end, it may take 2-3 hours to wait.

The correct solution would have been to hop off and wait for the next bus, but I can imagine the stress of being alone, in a developing country, with no data, in a big city, etc etc etc. But you seemed to manage it quite well haha

Answer to the first question of the video: MAFALDAAAAA 💖💖💖💖💖 She's from an old comic here, she's very loved. Written by Quino, she's a child that's extremely passionate about politics and stuff it's a really enjoyable comic and it has a lot of commentary on the state of the country, the world, and the views on topics of democracy, freedom, humanity and stereotypes. I don't have a lot of memories, so I'll reread it now that i have more understanding on the topics it deals with jsjsjs

We were in Paris, it was December and freezing cold, we were using the hop on and hop off bus to get around, day 2 we went to get on the bus we met up with a couple from the UK we had met the day before, the bus pulls up and there was a really grumpy woman driving, she told some people they couldn't get on because they had the wrong ticket, my husband jumped on the bus and she shut the door and left me and the other couple behind. He went and said to her you have to stop you left my wife behind so she eventually pulled over and let him off and he walked back to us.

It's not a subte card per se, and SUBE does not stand for subterranean. SUBE stands for single electronic ticket system and it's for subways, regular trains, and short-distance buses. And btw, in that scenario... STAY PUT. That coffee shop looked cozy though, serendipity.

He was right, Emily shouldn't move not only because is the more sensical option, but adding to that, she hasn't data connection on her phone and as she told, she didn't even know where to get off. At the end, the lesson is, when going abroad with family NEVER be without cell data plan. It rare that the driver left someone behind with the bus not being full. Happy staying in BA

Hi. Caminito is not the birthplace of tango. It's known because it was the inspiration of the homonym tango song composed in 1926 by Juan de Dios Filiberto (music) and Gabino Coria Peñaloza (lyrics), which is one of the most popular songs in tango history. The birthplace of tango is a topic still under debate among scholars.
