Love your reviews! As someone who did work attractions years ago ( I was local, not college program) and loved it, and I did work with many CP participants. Back then it really was a one semester or one summer (in my case) experience. I just don’t want to see young people get stuck in a dead end role or give up opportunities like grad school in favor of being a Disney custodian. 🤷🏻♀️

My program with the rodent will be 8/1-1/26 and I just want to thank you for not sugar coating it in your videos on this topic. While I have the precautions in mind, I am still staying optimistic about my program! I just spent the last year as an RA at my college, I'm convinced I am mentally ready for anything at this point.

I realize I'm very late to the comments, but I recently got to talk with some people doing the Bowling Green and Cedar Fair joint program and they had very positive reviews. You spend two years taking standard classes in person or online, then two years living in Sandusky and working year-round at Cedar Point. You get to work side by side with some pretty high up management and really get to see how all aspects of the park function. Definitely a great program if you want a good career out of theme parks.

I liked this follow-up a lot! Currently heading to bed for day four of seven days in a row working... on my second work week at the college program. For me, I'm not sure if I'll be able to extend (if I choose to) because it may not be approved by my university. Without a study hall period, aka 3 hours on the same day each week, I'm not quite sure how I'd be able to manage schoolwork. I have a summer class that I'm beginning in June, and I am already weary of my ability to complete all of the work and have time to sleep at night. Absolutely, it's just another job. I agree. I followed you on instagram and I hope you're doing well!

thanks for the updated vid! I’ll be there in July so this is super helpful. Also wanted you to know that you left the editors note about including a pic of Kenny in around 4:02 instead of including the pic of him. Not sure if it was on purpose or not, but just wanted to let you know lol

I'm mostly wondering how effective is the DCP as a stepping stone to an internship or a job? I am applying to the Disney Professional Internship but that I'm still waiting on a response. I've already been accepted to DCP (I've got 7 days to respond) and my decision is contingent on how much it will help me out as a stepping stone in accelerating my career. With Disney or otherwise. Do you have any insight on this? Like how often it actually functions in this way? I guess my worry is that it will have no effect as I am sacrificing a decent paying office job if I choose to pursue the program. I want to use the program to get my foot in the door.

In my opinion the professional internship is a better stepping stone than the CP, although to be frank, even that is not guaranteed. It is highly dependent on where you do the PI, what area/department, what kind of positions they have open and available once you complete the program. If you’re done school or not, etc etc I did a PI, was not able to transition to part time or full time work in that area upon program completion BUT I was accepted into the bench, which is basically a holding area for people they’ll call up when/if a position becomes available. Ended up going back home but went back two years later later to do another PI and then extended into a management internship, after which point I moved into a regular statused leadership role. But I definitely knew several PIs/MIs during my programs who were also not able to move into permanent roles, or went into regular guest facing roles in park. *edit to add* this also applies to where you might do a CP role, and your school major, goals, etc. A friend of mine did a CP, went full time attractions after, then ended up in an apprenticeship in a field completely different than her education, but still in entertainment so she’s very happy. And still there 10y later. My first program, we celebrated the 40y anniversary of one of my coworkers….imma leave it at that as far as emphasizing how difficult it can be to get on the ladder, much less move up it. Best of luck on your PI, or your CP if you decide to go that route (and then apply again for the PI lol)

@@ninabeena83 Okay great answer, thanks! I'm thinking it's worth doing just for the life experience and potential unexpected opportunity and based on your advice I'll keep applying for PI's as well.

I did my college program back in 2012 and 2013. After my second college program i went Seasonal (My CP group was one of the last CP groups that you go Seasonal directly without any requirements). After a year and a half of Seasonal i went Part Time and then Full Time. I know a lot of people who went directly Part Time or Full Time after their program ended

Question: Even though you can’t request to be transferred to any specific place, don’t you get a choice of your role you want when you’re initially applying
