Version 2 needs to be an arcade fight stick style. Of course there has to be a version 2. This would be something you send to channels like GameGrumps to see how frustrated they get. You could probably do a twitch stream where you try to win a game of whatever game is popular this month.

Hey there Solderking, this isn't related to this video but I was wondering how much you knew about something. How much do you know about potentiometers? For years I was trying to understand why some random 3rd party controllers have a square stick where you can get 100% inputs diagonally, compared to normal 1st party ones with a rounded deadzone that max out around 70 percent diagonally. The other day I finally realized some potentiometers have numbers on them, and these numbers show the measured angle of input from 0-100%. So the weird squared stick I like that can hit 100% diagonally checking gamepad tester has the number 38 on it which shows a 38 degree angle on the range so it takes less input to fully max out. A lot of first party ones I noticed have 60 or 6 on the potentiometer which means a much larger angle and you have to move the stick further to get 100% input from side to side. With this 60 degree angle range you can't hit 100% diagonally like I prefer. My idea is I want to find a way to modify the sensitivity of these 60 degree angle potentiometers on the controllers to make them have a smaller angle, so it takes less range moving the stick to reach 100% input. It seems like the metal piece called a wiper on the inside moves along this small carbon ink strip, which reads this input from 0-100%. But I'm not sure if it's possible to modify it accurately to make have the same angle on both sticks. I'm not quite sure what you would even change for this to work, I was thinking shortening the carbon ink angle on the inside or adjusting the wiper to make it more flat so it is more sensitive. I don't think any of this really makes much sense the more I think about it lol, but I'd love to find an easy way to modify these. Other alternative is to just get these 38 degree potentiometers and try to solder them on my other controllers that I would want to have squared sticks on. Thanks.

Yo solder king, you know what would be cool, if you were to make a controller that countered a lot of weak sides of the series X controller. Here’s what 8 have in mind. (Mind u I have no idea how difficult it would be to do the following) 1. Replace stock thumb sticks with Hall effect sensor thumb sticks 2. Replace face buttons and dpad buttons with tactile (clicky) or micro snap switches Whaddya think???
@Solder_king
2 жыл бұрын
So replacing the sticks with the magnetic ones is possible but it would need to include a mirco processor to read the change in voltage from the hall effect sensors then turn that into the voltage the controller is expecting from the potentiometers. The tactile switches can be done as well :) of the two the tactile switch would be the easiest but once you figure out the coding needed for the hall effect to analog output you can make a small interconnect PCB for the two and make it a drop in replacement
