Some C&A action in VA/NC, including an NPBL GP15-1 running on the C&A! Originally shot on a Sony CCD-TRV318 Hi8 camcorder.
Shot #1: Seen from a park near Lambert's Point, we see an ex-Southern GP38-2 high hood and NPBL GP15-1 #1451 running light.
Shot #2: NPBL #1451 running light at Portlock Yard.
Shot #3: Looking north from Chesapeake City Park siding, then see the headlight coming around the curve.
Shot #4: Here comes a loaded rock train past CCP, with a nice horn blast on the Leslie RS3L.
Shot #5: We catch the train again, this time at Etheridge Manor Boulevard with the horn blowing very loudly.
Shot #6: Pacing shot along Centerville Turnpike as we get ahead of the train.
Shot #7: The train rolls through Head Of River Road, the horn plays in the cracks a bit here. Note the crossing has a rare (for this area at the time) WCH e-bell.
Shot #8: Approach shot at Moyock, NC.
Shot #9: Last shot of the train at Baxter Road, Moyock, NC.
Shot #10: Another day, another C&A train. headed northbound. #3841 leads, which #2190 trails. The engineer really lays on the K5LA horn through the Puddin Ridge Road and Shingle Landing Road crossings in Moyock.
Shot #11: Pacing shot of the C&A through Moyock with nice horn action.
Shot #12: Northbound at Etheridge Manor Boulevard, during a distant thunderstorm. Check out this crossing, nice cantilevers and long gates. He really laid on the horn through this crossing.
Shot #13: Tried to get the train going over the bridge but to no avail.
Shot #14: Northbound at Volvo Parkway, new crossing setup with two cantilevers and two mast signals. Four quadrant system. I'd say this system was maybe a few months old at the time. Replaced four mast signals including GRS LEX-C plastic flashers. Despite the low train count, this crossing needed the upgrade.
Shot #15: We catch the C&A at Carolina Junction at the approach to Portlock Yard. Always liked this crossing even though not a lot of trains, and track speed slow.
Shot #16: C&A coming into Portlock Yard, same location where we saw the NPBL unit last time. Note the Santa Fe blue and yellow paint peeking through the trailing unit.
Shot #17: We were expecting to catch it headed back south with a full train, however, all he had was two engines and one grain hopper to put into the siding. Nice loud blast on the Leslie RS3L.
Shot #18: Backing into the siding to tie down for the night.
Shot #19: Engines shut down, a rare occurrence would happen the next day as the C&A would run on a weekend. But I had to work so I couldn't get it.
Thanks for watching! :)
