I find the best way to learn the Elektron boxes is to watch the Cuckoo tutorial, then go play and learn on your own for a month, then come back and watch the tutorial again, and repeat a third time. Each time you return to the tut, things make more sense and are easier to understand. Cuckoo tuts have replay value!

+alienanxiety that's great to hear! The reason why my tutorials are a bit long, is because I want to give people a complete feeling for how things work, so that they can experiment on their own. Glad you find them useful! :)

+Nico Caffarella Thanks Nico. The USB Midi converter is for the OP-1. There is only USB midi for the OP-1, so to make it standard midi you need a converter. There's no micro USB to USB B port available. It's against the standards. Only micro USB to USB A port. So that's why I was using the Kenton USB Midi hub.

For fellow Windows users, I found that setting a delay parameter to a nominal value of 10 ms in the config menu for C6 was required to get stable sample send/receive. This is covered in the C6 manual, which recommends a range of 5-50 ms for "XP". I am using Windows 7 Pro and 10 ms is fine. It took me a bit to realize that I might need to use a non-zero delay.

One comment I thought was worth noting about loading samples: You have to select "SDS Handshake" and "Use Extended SDS" in the configuration of the C6 software before sending your samples. Otherwise, the sample gets renamed in the RYTM.

cuckoo.. you are a legend!! i now have a better understanding how to get more out of my Elektron but do have mixed feelings. I still like my rytm don't get me wrong. its a great bit of kit. its annoying because the tempo / trk lvl encoder on mine jumps 8 rather than 1 every time. its meant to jump 8 when u push down i think so maybe i can send it in for repair as its well within 3 years warranty. Anyway my other gripe is that it cant control other midi eqp .. samplers or synths etc without a buit in seq - from what i can tell and it would be pretty simple by the push of a function button + another (and the desired pad) for a couple of free midi tracks for 2 ext midi channels to use the rytm as a sequencer without having to rely on lap top or another expensive toy. if you do know of a way for this to happen at all (id like to control a Yamaha A4000 or a korg MS20) that would be amazing, using the trigger and swing would be soo cool. either way you have done a sterling job and a brilliant tutorial. I am very inclined to help you towards your Namm excursion.. when i have a bit more myself i will. Take care man.

Hey, excellent tutorial, Im struggling with the FX section on my AR, maybe you could do another tutorial? ;) Great work as always btw!
@truecuckoo
8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lee. Yes, FX section is sort of disconnected from the rest. I think the most difficult part is the compressor. Usually a compressor VST plug-in is visual, but on the Analog Rytm is just numbers so you need to understand a whole lot, and listen carefully. I will take it into account when making new stuff.
