I liked this video for the wise insights that you shared. With technology giving instant feedback and results, it’s easy to mindlessly scroll and like things. Practicing using analog tools helps you be mindful of and intentional about what you are doing. I am taking a course about AI for Educators currently and although just like anything else, it is a useful tool for some things, we need to strike a balance between using technology and being in the present moment with analog tools. Also, technology and AI create things that form a virtual reality that seems real, but that is where we need to be discerning about that generated reality. Both can be beneficial. The key is how to strike a balance among all the tools we use.

When taking photos with our phone it’s also easy to only view the event through the lenses rather than through life itself.

This video inspired me to try out using my Polaroid camera I've had collecting dust for two years. You are right it does make you feel more in the moment to use. I cannot spend all my time staring at things through the lense because a lot of times the photo doesn't come out good. I think the purpose of film cameras like these becomes different from phone cameras, because of the fact that you cannot take good or clear pictures all the time. I've gone through a lot of film trying to learn how to take a decent looking photo, and the right environment I need for one. With this camera, you can really only take photos for specific moments in time because of that. Phone cameras are built for recording anything at any time and good photos are meaningless because you don't have to try to make something show up clearly.

I liked your video about two thirds of the way through. I saw another of your videos about using your notebook in public and the reaction you experienced. It was great.

I definitely agree with you.I find your camera analogy was really relatable. Social media relies on people's knee jerk reacts to what is posted. Once your comment is posted there's no removing it. It's there forever. A few minutes to gather your thoughts before replying really let's you think things through a bit. Everyone is always rushing through everything.

we need to learn how to be more intentional in our actions. Be present, aware

When I was a member of the local Photographic Society, a few members were 'Analog Only' photographers. They also said that they had to really give some thought before clicking the Shutter Release when taking shots as opposed to blasting off a whole stream!

Love the bit about the thoughtful consideration that goes into using a camera with limited uses. I try to keep a positive attitude, but I find myself becoming increasingly frustrated with the general shift that's been going on toward people just acting on their stream of consciousness. So much of online "discourse" is people just typing as they think, often in tiny incomplete and disorganized chunks, and it's become pretty difficult to find anything of substance among the chaff a lot of the time. It seems like in the earlier days of online forums, more posts were at least somewhat thought-out and there just seemed to be a general etiquette there, or an understanding that this was a place for meaningful discourse, rather than just spamming abbreviated versions of thoughts to a chat or a comment section or a "microblog". Not that some of those early IRC chats weren't pretty bad in this regard, though. I think it's just a result of the convenience that comes with these technologies, and not doing things the more deliberate analog way as you say. Part of me regrets that I wasn't able to experience manual letter-writing in its heyday. There's just something more intimate and magical about it, receiving something that someone prepared by hand.

I like your point about the instant camera. I remember the last time I used one was when I was on a 2-day trip to Osaka, Japan. I had bought one of those Fujifilm instant camera. I remember having to be intentional about all of my captures. I remember each of those compositions and the experience of each.

Ah, I'd love to visit Japan - the closest I get is watching NHK World :) That's great about the camera you used - how did the photos come out I wonder? Many thanks

Well, out of habit, i clicked 'like' right at the beginning of your video. Thankfully, I don't have to take it back now that I've watched the thing.

I have been thinking for a while we do not think enough. We make a ton of decisions with very little thinking now days. We have been pushed into thinking there are only a limited way to do things. We very rarely stop and consider anything.

I enjoyed the video thank you again!! Funny you said that about texting, I absolutely hate texting. If I have to read and send a text I expect a little effort. If someone texts me "short form" I play dumb and make them repeat it "long form" 😂. Yup I'm a grumpy man!! Thankfully most have taken the hint 🤷🤠 Cheers and God Bless
