Hello! I am working on a project regarding on making bioplastics and I'm here to do a tensile strength test. I am wondering if it is necessary to shape the bioplastics into a dumbbell or is a rectangular shape enough? I think that the shape of a dumbbell will be useful to make the monitoring easier, but will there be a significant difference if a rectangular shape is used instead? While I'm waiting for your reply, I would like to thank you for this 3-part video series. I believe it will help me tremendously in my project since I don't have the funding necessary to issue a service for this kind of testing. Also, I will learn about the process in which one will test for tensile strength, tabulate the data, and then interpret them. I would like to express my gratitude. I hope a subscribe, like, comment, and share of this video to my friends who are also working on a project would be enough to support you. Thank you once again. I'll be hearing from you soon.

Hi! You don't need the dumbbell shape - you can do a rectangle, but you need to make sure there is enough material where you will 'hook' your bioplastic to the scale so that it doesn't tear through the material. Thank you for your kind words and good luck with your project!!!

@@Aminobiolab Thank you very much! I'll come back to this video to update you about my project or if I encounter problems relating to this video along the way. I'm so excited to do this. It might take me a few weeks since I'm also working on plenty of things aside from my project, but I'll see you soon!
