I am a Scoliosis patient. I don't draw... yet, but I want to thank you for this video. By seeing how a normal spine functions, I think I understand my own condition a little better. It also helped me pinpoint the location of the pain I'm currently experiencing. This will help my doctors be more precise the next time they do a nerve killing procedure on my back. I owe you one. :)

An interesting side effect of this series is I’m developing a respect for my body I never had...I need to lose weight pretty badly, understanding the strain I’ve got on my bones is giving me a conviction I never had before. Such a complex body deserves to be taken care of, you know?

This is probably my fifth time or more, coming back to this vid over the past few years. And I finally understand the "purpose" of each spinal section. I'm blurry on the details, but in terms of motion, proportion, general forms, and gesture, I think I get it now.

5:14 i thought something was wrong with my spine the way it sunk in, it feels worse then it looks. We need some kind of health class for junior schools nowadays. If were old enough to learn language and math we should be old enough for a class about our own bodies, start with basics as we age we progress the teachings like every other subject.

Do you really need to know the different bones of the spine or will simply knowing how the spine moves and connects with the ribcage and pelvis be enough? I feel hopelessly overwhelmed by the different types of bones. The number of atypical bones is frustrating too for each section. Too many bones + angles are making me procrastinate my anatomy.

What happens to the sternum when the thoracic section is rotated?
@nekoargento
9 жыл бұрын
Hi Denis, nothing happens really, it rotates with the rest of the ribcage, the firts seven pairs of ribs articulate on the spine and lock in the sternum, the next trhee are attached to the cartilage of the seventh rib, those are the one that you see moving when you inhale or exhale, think about it as a box attached to the spine, when the spine rotates, all rotate, hope i help man, have a good day
@ProkoTV

It tilts
@DenisLoubet

I figured it had to tilt! I guess the amount of sternum tilt is as subtle as the amount of spine twist.
