Thanks a lot Professor Bondok... You have distilled for us concepts to the simplest, amidst the hardness in books😊. Watching, though in the night most times😆, from your source of the Nile🤩, Uganda, Soroti University...receiving your good mOrnings as goodevenings😆...

Is tongue developed from second pharyngeal arch If not why tongue is supplied by facial nerve
@AdelBondok
2 жыл бұрын
Mucous membrane: 1. The anterior two-thirds develop from the first pharyngeal arch (lingual nerve). 2. The posterior one-third develops from the third pharyngeal arche (IX nerve). 3. The most posterior part from the 4th pharyngeal arch (X nerve). @@ The chorda timpani of the facial nerve is called pretrematic nerve (arises from the 2nd arch to supply structures of the 1st arch). Muscles: Develop from the occipital somites (XII nerve).

Nerve which runs along the cranial border of the arch is known as the post-trematic nerve and the nerve running along the caudal border is called the pretrematic nerve. Mandibular nerve is the postrematic nerve of the 1st arch, and the chorda tympani is pretrematic nerve of the first arch. the chorda tympani nerve, the 'pretrematic' (from facial nerve of the 2nd arch) crosses the first pharyngeal cleft and joins the lingual nerve to supply the taste buds in the anterior two-thirds of the tongue,
