It's more about loss in general than about love. "Singer Stephen Christian said the song was inspired the troubles of his guitarist Joseph Milligan. "Right at the time the album was being written, the guitarist Joey Milligan, his sister had passed away from cancer, and she was very young. She was only 29 years old, she had a one-and-a-half year old son and it really, really, just affected the band. It felt like a giant weight was placed on our chest the entire time we were recording."

That "to put my arms in fragile hands" still hits me so hard man.... to the point of tears. I've not known many bands to be able to convey emotion quite as well as Anberlin, To anyone else who grew up loving this band and came back here for the nostalgic memories, love to you all :)

I was about 12 years old on vacation at Lake Winnepausake in New Hampshire when one day we went shopping and went to a record store among other things. I saw this on sale and had no clue what it was, never heard of the band, but for some reason the cover of the album looked interesting so I asked for it and my parents bought it for me. I put the CD in my Walkman on the drive home, put my headphones on and listened to the whole album. That intro back then, I never heard anything like it, I know now it’s a pretty simple filter placed over the guitar that slowly fades out, but it just blew me away, I still think of this album every now and then

When your only friends are hotel rooms Hands are distant lullabies If I could turn around I would tonight These roads never seemed so long Since your paper heart start beating leaving me suddenly alone Will daybreak ever come? Who's gonna call on Sunday morning? Who's gonna drive you home? I just want one more chance To put my arms in fragile hands I thought you said forever Over and over A sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion These thoughts run through my head Over and over Complaints of violins become my only friends August evenings Bring solemn warnings To remember to kiss the ones you love goodnight You never know what temporal days may bring So laugh, love, live free and sing When life is in discord Praise ye the lord Who's gonna call on Sunday morning? Who's gonna drive you home? I just want one more chance To put my arms in fragile hands I thought you said forever Over and over The sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion These thoughts run through my head Over and over Complaints of violins become my only friends I thought you said forever Over and over The sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion These thoughts run through my head Over and over Complaints of violins become my only friends I thought you said forever Over and over These thoughts run through my head

This is the first time in years since I've seen this music video, and I'm feeling ridiculously emotional right now. This was the first song I heard from a band that I now call one of my favorites, that I've seen countless times live, who I adore more than I probably logically should. It's really hard to say goodbye to a band that have been a part of your life for so long (especially when all of the new music that they're put out sounds absolutely incredible), but if they think it's what's best for them I respect that. RIP Anberlin 2002-2014, can't wait to see you guys for the last time in a few weeks.

I got gassed with H2S at work a couple years ago. I was dead for over 3 minutes until operations dragged me clear and brought me back with CPR. During that 3+ minutes I got to visit with my wife and tell her that I loved her. Got to tell her goodbye. It was so real that I could smell the grass. Then I spent hours in limbo/purgatory reliving moments when I was younger with my deceased parents. It was very surreal. Then 6 months later my wife and I got covid very badly and almost died. This video and song brings back all those feelings to the point I had to stop working and write this comment. If you read this, just know that God is real and you do not just fade away after you pass. Keep the faith people.

This song and video really hit me. My my situation may not be an exact fit with the lyrics, but for a number of reasons, it reminds me of my fight with cancer and the loss of my sister-in-law to cancer. "August Evenings bring solemn warnings to kiss the ones you love goodbye" is significant because my sister-in-law passed away in the middle of the night in the August of 2019. And "When life is in discord, praise ye the Lord" is also significant, as Meghan was very deeply passionate about her faith, even to the very end. It may be painful memories from my personal battle with cancer and my sister-in-law's, but I'm so glad this song and video was made. It's a really helpful way for me to remember the past. Saw y'all live with Relient K back in 2003(I think?) and have been a huge fan since. Seriously thank you all for what you've given to the world.

Just another stop in my nostalgic music tour today. I don't know why I do it to myself. It ends up making me sad. Longing for a time that's past and wasn't appreciated nearly enough when it was real. Many of the people the songs bring back are dead. Others I haven't spoken to in years. I wish I'd listened more. When people told me I'd miss those days, I couldn't even imagine the weight that what they were saying carried. I'm happy in my life, but man, do I sometimes long for those care free days aurrounded by friends and our only responsibility was to have fun....

Back then I didn't understand the meaning of this, but as time went by and it just kept playing in my head, I finally figured it out. Let me tell you : This life is painful and it sucks sometimes. And on several occasions one questions everything..... What does one do when it happens? Where does one turn? What do you do when things happen? Where is the hope? A lot of people go their own way and have their own way of coping with the pain. Whether it be with problems or the worst tragedy one has ever experienced. I remember something that Jesus said and it is this : Come To Me, All You Who Are Weary And Are Heavy Laden, And I Will Give You Rest. Take Upon My Yoke And Learn From Me For I Am Gentle And Lowly In Heart And You Will Find Rest For Souls. For My Yoke Is Easy And My Burden Is Light. Jesus is the Greatest comfort and the only hope we all have. One must be dependent of him all the time. He is there with open arms.
