ANCIENT GREECE 1: Minoans and Mycenaeans - The Labyrinth of the Minotaur and the Trojan War
A long time ago, in the island of Crete, people lived who, although they are said to have made human sacrifices, became very civilized. They built great palaces, like that of Knossos, and created two types of writing, a hieroglyphic and a syllabic, Lineal A. They traded with many people, as with the Egyptians, Mesopotamia or Phenicia, and also with neighbors newly settled in the peninsula Of the Peloponnese in Greece. They were the Mycenaeans.
These future Greeks, also known as Achaeans by Homer, wanted party hard, so they decided to invade the Minoans after the disaster of the eruption of the volcano of Tera. And their eagerness for power led them to a war against Troy that would unbalance the forces of the whole Mediterranean and would end up giving rise to what are known as the invasions of the Sea Peoples.
