A Mysterious Shive Temple in the jungle.
Extremely popular with the foreign tourist. The Gupteshwara caves is a limestone caves are dedicated to Lord Shiva as there is a Lingam inside the caves. The temple is 55 K.m from Jeypore, and 80 Kms away from Koraput Odisha.

It was a limestone cave discovered some time ago and has a number of scenic spots around.
The temple is called "Gupteshwara” which means the "Hidden God". It is so named because it was lying hidden in the cave for a very long period.
It's also popularly known as "Gupta Kedar”.
At the entrance of Gupteswar/Ramagiri hills say about 4 km from the main cave, they're situated Goddess Dalkhai (local tribe goddess). One has to offer branches of trees to the goddess before entering into Ramagiri hills. There is allegedly a saying that same was established by the King as protecting goddess. It is also alleged from the people of the locality and others who has already experienced the place that nobody can enter into the Ramagiri hills without offering branches there.
One can experience lots of monkeys on the way, but trust they never do any harm or attack of the visitors.
The Gupteshwar Caves is located atop a hill which takes a scintillating journey to reach, and the Holy "Shivalingam" inside the caves indeed gives a true spiritual feeling. It is believed that the Shivalingam is growing in size with time.
One can reach it by climbing the 200 steps flanked with rows of Champak trees
As per local tales, Lord Sri Ram discovered this hidden Shivalingam during his exile in Dandakaranya and worshipped it.
There are also several other caves nearby. Inside the second cave there is a large stalactite. People worship it as the udder of God Kamadhenu (the divine cow) and wilt under it with outstretched palms to collect drops of water which fall only at long intervals.
The place is a very popular pilgrimage amongst locals and far-off people too. During Shivaratri , Gupteswar Temple draws over 200,000 devotees from Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. People suffering from incurable diseases come here to worship the God and remain here for months in the hope of getting cured.
Weekdays not much crowded. The Darshan doesn’t take more than 30 minutes.
There is a river flowing nearby. The devotees take a dip in the river and then visit the Shivalinga.
Tribes will be seen selling minor forest produces outselling minor forest produces outside the temple.
Such a divine place that i would like to come back again and again.
The place can be reached both by train and bus.
The nearest railway station is Koraput railway station.
National Highway touches both Koraput and Jeypore, hence reaching the place Gupteshwar is not at all difficult.
Those who want to visit Gupteshwar can visit the colorful tribal market of Dhuruba Tribes and their typical tribal village on Saturday.
