9 November 1975, Captain of the Third Rank Valery Sablin, who wished to protest against the rampant corruption of Leonid Brezhnev, seized the soviet ship Storozhevoy and attempted to broadcast a nationwide address to the people of the USSR. In that address, he was going to say that socialism and the motherland were in danger by Brezhnev's corruption. He was eventually captured by the KGB and executed.
