There was a brief period in late 1971/very early 1972 that she wore a hair piece, giving the illusion she had mount of hair on top/in back of her. She did have nice hair of her own, but if you look, there is just no way one could have THAT much hair!

Coupydog. I think this is the recording used on "As Time Goes By," as it is credited there to the BBC. This may be my favorite song of Karen's. I cannot get over how radiant and happy she looked here, in 1971. When I met her backstage in Chicago in August, 1976, she looked like a complete different person and I don't think it was entirely the physical effects of her anorexia. Her performance that night was perfect, but I think her heart and soul had ceased to be in it anymore.

Karen should have been Richard’s muse. But instead she was a casualty of her brother and her mom’s unhealthy codependent relationship. She truly was the star in that family.
@greenwich1754

What you might not realize is that Richard was the initial music progeny in the family, a natural, innate ability on the piano, and if it wasn't for Richard, Karen may never have gone in a musical direction. Her brother was progressing beyond his music teachers, and getting gigs. Karen admired her brother, and took up drums because she wanted to be with her brother. It was only by happenstance, as I understand it, that Karen was asked to sing, and Richard instantly knew he had a sound. He was best at arrangements, and picking/writing songs that fit Karen's vocal style. The mother - yeah, she definitely thought that Richard could do no wrong, and don't think she ever gave the praise to Karen as she did Richard.

True Marty. Monther Agnes thought Karen was stepping on Richard's toes, getting so much attention & people absolutely went head over heels for her! Agnes's goal was to knock her back a notch or two & keep her down, supposedly making Richard the Standout Performer.
