Wholly crap at that pricetag, 530AUD... For that price, I may as well just get one similar to what Louis Rossmann uses, which I can get for a little over 600AUD :(

Good review mate 👍. These are great microscopes especially for folk who don't want or perhaps can't afford the larger lab type scopes, and this one with its larger screen is great. The only downside IMHO is that they're still a bit clunky, and the working distance in this case is quite tight. Still far better than nothing though 👌 Cheers John

Sadly just looking at Alliexpress these AD409 run around AU $500, so I would presently stick to my smaller old Andonstar microscope. Banggood did not have this AD409 on its site, after looking at defaults of other AD models, a direct search failed to find it there at all.

If you mount the microscope just below that red ring you can get a wider view / zoom out more (edit) Never mind, watched till the end of the Video where he says the same

I already bought this one yesterday. it happened to be on sale on amazon prime days and decided to jump on it. Sorry I didn't use your link. your videos are very good and this confirms is exactly what I want. The only issue i can see with these devices is the size of a circuit board you can put under it. I am assuming a different type of stand can be made to accommodate larger circuit boards esp when using it to find the issues on those type of boards. Thank you for the review!

Looks pretty sharp and decent depth of field (at least it looks wider then my current cheapo microscope), but this wobbliness in the image is worrisome. Shame there is no computer connection option via USB, or USB type-C. Thanks for the review.

Nice big LCD, but to tell you the truth I couldn't imagine using one of these daily in comparison to my head visor magnifiers with the flip up lens, or my x2 reading glasses. For recording (HDMI capture) for a specific purpose then it might be good though.
@stevenspmd

Agreed .. and for capture while working (on a budget) those cheap USB scope can be easily hacked to give a long working distance.

I have a big fancy microscope/camera, but sometimes it's just easier, or more natural for me, to my head visor too. I've actually done some very tiny work with it. The limiting factor these days is hand shaking more than visual.

I have a AD305 and love it. I dpecially like its large gap clearance as I do SMD soldering work under it, thus for this model would certanly go the end mount as you concluded. One item to examine would be the capability to simultaneously use HDMI output at same time as recording to MicroSD card. On the 300 series it could do so, but from memory the earlier AD407 10" microscope would no longer do so. Still I have considrred an upgrade to a 10" as I do not use a HDMI screen for space/arangement of lab.

I have the AD407 and it happily displays on its own screen an external HDMI display and record video all simultaneously, with audio. Maybe I have a revised edition of the AD407.

@@coctailrob thank you that is good info. I believe that the 10" screen is a great improvement. While my smaller screen works well and has good clearance from the work piece for doing assembly/ soldering, certainly far better than most cheap small electronic scopes I tried, that leave mere few inches, the larger display does seem more desirable.

Yes, I so have an optical stereo microscope now. I really don't need any other. I didn't think about the missing 3D aspect of a digital microscope. I didn't think about that or notice that lacking on the demo videos I've seen here, or elsewhere on youtube.

Thanks for your review! I have an AD207 that I use for microsoldering, but it really has a little annoying LAG for me. I imagine the same will happen with this AD409, finally I think I will have to change to a Trinocular. I also saw your fantastic review of the Eakins Auto Focus, is it worth it if you have an AD207? improves input LAG? Thanks again!

Well that's crap, i poured cold water on a teabag lol. That microscope looks spot on, you can get the lense well away from the pcb and have oodles of space to work in. Work space is important. Just glue a thin rubber mat on that bare base surface, stop that pcb slipping. No mug holder on the side !!, disgusting :)

I have yet to see a digital microscope that doesn't give me motion sickness. I would have like to see you solder under it to see if you have any noticeable lag. How "real time" is it?
@coctailrob
3 жыл бұрын
I have the AD407 and there is no distinguishable lag on it either on internal display or external HDMI display. I have tried a cheap USB scope and the lag on that made it unusable for anything other than inspection only.
@Daveyk021

@@coctailrob I have to admit, it's been many years since I tried a digital microscope. That AD407 does look very versatile. You don't have to have your head over, and pointing at an angle over, two optical lenses. You can look straight forward, like a computer screen. That may be a more natural way to work (unless you are used to an optical scope).
