André's passion for photography was re-ignited upon being gifted two Polaroid SX-70 cameras by different colleagues in the late 1970s. This new camera technology was a blessing to him after not being in a darkroom for some time; he was finally able to see the magic of a photograph develop in front of his eyes again.
He used this new process of instant photography to work through the longing for his recently passed wife, Elizabeth, by photographing a glass bust that reminded him of her.
