He shows a much better understanding of jazz/swing than many of the classical interpreters of these preludes. Bravo. First rate rendition.

Mr. Watts has a CD where he plays all of Gershwin's short piano pieces from the published music book that is for sale.....You might have bought it.....If you did, what was your opinion of his playing?

Bought this album in 76 when it came out. I love the entire thing. My favorite piece from the Gershwin songs is "'Swonderful". Watts took a more wistful approach to the piece, which in my opinion adds a sweeter, gentler interpretation than would normally be found. Andre later related that Andre Previn scolded him for that interpretation, telling him "It's a dance tune, kid." (Heard this during a Studs Terkel interview from 1986). It was beautiful to me.

anyone who is worrying that they might be prone to dementia should play the second prelude - playing the piano stimulates the brain and helps to keep it active - but playing crossie-buckle (cross hands) is apparently particulalry beneficial - I'm relearning the blue prelude and finding the cross hands work in the second theme challenging to say the least - but better than doing crosswords!
