I'm not even American, but the thing that drives me insane is that not a single person had any idea who Gene Haas is yet that's no problem at all with them running a team. Andretti is arguably the most recognizable racing name in America and that is a problem?! This has made zero sense.
@brianvogt8125

The American fans know who Gene Haas is, via the very competitive Stewart-Haas Racing in NASCAR. His mobile advertising signs generate more business profit than it costs to run the F1 team, so he's happy. The entry of Haas F1 Team expanded the field from 10 teams to 11 in 2016, so that's a precedent. Considering how keen FOM is to promote their business in USA, I can only think that Andretti's exclusion is a temporary publicity stunt. Perhaps 12 months from now ...

Seem to me that the existing teams don't want to share the money cake, that is the big issue.

Selling an f1 team now wouldnt make sense. Unless theyre bankrupt, which i dont see happening given the media money in f1 now.

If Andretti can build a car in spec Andretti should be allowed to race. Competitive? Let the track decide. Is F1 a race competition or a club? Well, that's be answered hasn't it.

It's all about money. The 11th place team gets zero guaranteed money. Means that teams like Haas, Williams, and Alfa Romeo might not get anything.

The idea that they knew certain facilities would not fit an 11th team shows they didn't want an 11th team all along. that's not new information. They knew that on day one and chose not to make it an issue.

The term "competitive" seems very dubious in its use from FOM/F1. Like what do they mean by that? Is beating the worst F1 team on the grid considered "competitive".

I smell a lawsuit coming! The fact that half the current grid is NOT Competitive helps to show the shallow thought put into FOM’s statements. Also I don’t remember Williams building an exclusive PU, nor McLaren, Stake. Hell Red Bull has NOT built their own PU for competition yet! Liberty and the teams are acting like spoiled pricks in their handling of this!!!

If you think about, Dallara, the biggest “race car” manufacturer in the world, happens to make the worst car on the grid.

I think other than COTA no additional F1 races should be allowed in the U.S. That wouldn't hurt Miami or Vegas as they are 2 destinations without F1 and any new races being proposed...well...you can't miss what you never had. Let's see how fast a concerted effort to "boycott" in the U.S. would impact ways of thinking in the little boys club.

It could all be politics since FORD owns part of Red Bull, I believe. Definitely would be nice to see Andretti come in to F1.

sorry that this rejection of Andretti by F1is utter crap! My question is how do they know Andretti won'tbe competitive without giving them a try ! if it's down to the other teams nobody else will be granted a place on the grid! As Jean Haas has already stated he doesn't want to put any more money into investing in his F1 teams infrastructure in terms of a upgrade to their factory, I think he should sell up to Andretti who are willing to spend whatever it takes to produce a championship winning car!

I love F1, and of course being american I am partial to seeing Andretti Global get into F1. I truly believe the reasons that were stated by the FIA is a smoke screen of excuses for not admitting Andretti Global. I believe they are getting pressure from teams like Red Bull, Mercedes, Ferrari etc... They are afraid of the of another team potentially stepping in to the ring and giving them more competition. The Andretti name is known around the world, how does that not bring a viable argument for more interest in F1. I believe Andretti brings a lot to the table, it sounds like a bunch of spoiled kids not wanting Andretti Global to play in their sandbox.

Why show FIA related pictures when referring to "F1" or "FOM"? It either shows your ignorance regarding the issue, or are you trying to sturr something up?
