In my experience, people who have an extremely wide range usually struggle with their middle register. They often have a lot of power and beauty in the high and low notes and then they suddenly sound dim and opaque in "easy" passages. This is why singers (be they opera singers or pop) should train first and foremost their middle register to give it effortless strength and projection. This is a song that has grown on me. I used to think he had been chosen just because of his good looks - don't get me wrong, he IS stunning - but he has proven in this semifinal that he also possesses a relevant stage presence. And to be able to sing like that live, he needs to know what he is doing. I think Cyprus deserves at least a top ten this year and possibly a top five.

I like this song. This guy has an incredible vocal range. His falsetto is just great. However, like you say Dan, his normal relaxed singing voice seemed to struggle. That is abit odd. However, I think he’s simply nervous and concentrating on what he’s doing vocally. This is one of my ones to watch. Being sarcastic here! I know this song will get 12 maximum points from the Greek jury from the off, regardless of all the other entrants. I’m so glad that Eurovision has evolved to now include a audience vote. This move can change the outcome. In the near future, maybe a national jury vote will be disbanded in favour of the viewing audience voting and deciding the result. The jury vote is biased for a multitude of reasons. They shouldn’t bring politics into a singing competition. It’s just spoils it I think.
