I tried to watch this guy but I noticed he would really argue with people who would say anything negative about him. Then he comes off as being cocky, especially when He walks with his lats flared out stomping around like he has an impressive build. Almost like he doesn’t know or hasn’t looked in the mirror. I wished he had more humility. Besides that I have to say his shoulder strength is insane.

I think you are taking him in the wrong way. He does the stuff you refer too as cocky ( walk and posing etc) as humour, not to be cocky, im sorry you missed that as he is genuinely a funny guy. A lot of comments make completely incorrect statements about his pressing, accuse him of fake weights or bitch at his form. In those cases I don’t Blame him for defending himself. Imagine training solidly for over a decade to a level where you could be considered one of the best in the world only for some 150lb keyboard warrior to criticise you.

Behind the neck press, not behind the head press. If Oleksii Novikov only had to go as far as behind his head, he'd still be able to still hold the record. Not taking anything away from Andrews strength, but comparing an actual lift where the bar touched the shoulders to a press where the bar only got to the back of his head as the same, is incorrect.
@StrengthUniverse
6 ай бұрын
Nope.....You are not considering all the variables. Andrew lifts the weight in front of him before lifting it over his head to get it into position which wastes a lot of energy. He uses no leg drive, or jerk technique to assist the lift, it's all pure shoulder and tricep srength; not using the legs to get momentum into the bar and then dropping the body to catch the bar on it's way up. Oleksii is an amazing strongman but all his overhead presses use technique to lift the weight rather then pure static strength.
@norm9069
6 ай бұрын
He lifts in front of him because he doesn't have the flexibility to press it from his shoulders from the rack. And if you want to get technical about no leg drive on the front press, Eddie Hall has the best strict press where he does press it from his shoulders with no leg drive, not chin height and after pulling from the ground up to his shoulders. But once again, with Oleksii behind the neck press, it is just that, behind the neck, not head. Let's also not forget, that event was about 4th of the day of a series of events, he didn't go into that event fresh. In order for Andrew to truly say he can strict press from behind his neck, he needs to get the bar that low first. If he worked on his mobility and flexibility, he'd be able to take that record.
@StrengthUniverse
6 ай бұрын
@@norm9069 Bringing Eddie into the conversation or the fact that Oleksii had competed in several events before changes nothing; nor does mentioning Andrews shorter ROM, the behind the neck is performed down to a height level with the ears; going lower than that with heavy weights is unnecessary and increases the risk of injury. All the points made in my previous reply still stand e.g Andrew has a stronger strict press than Oleksii

Жыл бұрын
I think he passed Paul Anderson in overhead pressing ability some time ago. Paul's best overhead press was 485 lbs/220 kg, though he did that without elbow wraps. Even so, I'm confident Andrew can do more with bare elbows now seeing as how he's pressed 525 with wraps. He's actually closing in on Paul's push press PR of 545 lbs/247.5 kg.
@abhinavkumar547
Жыл бұрын
@@thatguyfrommars3732Speaking about Paul Anderson, u would find this interesting that although he claimed to have maxed out at push press from the racks at 545 lbs but lifting statistician Herb Glossbrenner claimed that Anderson did 600 lbs push press from the rack and Bob Hise claimed that he did 600 for 3 reps in the same lift. Numbers claimed by both of these men are much higher than what Paul, who with all due respect was exaggerator as well, claimed. If u would read Paul Anderson's autobiography, Paul Anderson : the world's strongest man written by him in 1975 , he has claimed in that book that he was always within 95% of his maximal strength when he trained on a given lift. He also stated that all his records were world records and nobody had come within 30 lbs on any of them. As a matter of record, at the time that book was written, Jim Williams had exceeded Anderson's highest claimed bench press by 50 lbs ; and Jon Cole had exceeded his highest claimed deadlift by 62 lbs. As far as Olympic lifts go, even his greatest claims had been exceeded by 30-35 lbs and his public lifts by 70-75 lbs. As can be seen, there are some discrepancies. Also ,if he was within 95% of his best at any given time ,why is there such a huge gap between his claims and his official/public performances. Who to believe, Anderson or Glossbrenner or Hise who two have claimed even bigger numbers for his best push press from the rack ? Glossbrenner has also claimed that Anderson strict pressed 530 lbs for 3 reps from the rack which would actually make him a stronger strict presser than Andrew Richards. I find it highly disappointing that a man with the reputation and calibre of Herb Glossbrenner could inflate the number. Some of the Paul Anderson's lifting numbers were exaggerated by different sources or eye witnesses which is not surprising given his cult status among many people who can be called the most ardent Anderson's fan. Randalf Strossen of iron mind was one of them who wrote mightiest minister on Paul Anderson's life. When Dr. Terry Todd and his research team debunked some of the myths of Anderson's supposed lifts like 6270 lbs backlift and 1100 lbs silver dollar squat with irrefutable proofs ,many people couldn't accept the truth and started personal attacks on them. Joe roark one of the friend of Dr. Terry who wrote an entire very detailed 3 part article on Anderson debunking his mythical lifts as well as destroying the points given by Strossen in support of Anderson's supposed 6270 lbs backlift, he had to face the worst wrath from the people. But Herb's glossbrenner's claims are not surprising as well given he time and again showed his fanboyism for Paul Anderson when he was alive so it is not impossible to say that he inflated some of his numbers , it's just that it is disappointing from lifting statistician and historian who should be impartial and verify the numbers. I have never seen any interview conducted by Herb that wouldn't include the question of Paul Anderson whether it was his interview of Jon Cole or Bruce Wilhelm to name a few. That makes me sceptical of his claim that Paul Anderson had a best bench press of 620 lbs done in 1957 as well when just 3 years earlier he was doing only 410 lbs for 3 sets of 2 reps. That being said, i respect Herb a lot. He was the first man in powerlifting history that decided to collect all the records and information of lifting numbers and his work in powerlifting USA will be always remembered.

He founded a natural strongman federation later and competed in it alongside with his sons and they both passed every drug tests. They never had a big jump in strength/ body composition, and their knowledge about gear is hilarious. One of them spoke on TV that they dont want to die young from steroids, every big pumped up guys are dying very young or something like this. Lászlo doesnt even like if someone takes creatine.
