UFC let fighter have sponsors, these sponsors would not pay for being on PPV or TV though, that's why fighters get money from Reebok which still is not a lot.
@artiew8718

They did when the fighters complained about it. Dana was lying about Brendan Schaub getting close to a million in sponsorhip and losing it because of Reebok. Dana and Schaub had a public beef, Joe vouched for Schaub when he showed him his proof. With UFC being on ESPN, fighters could be making millions a year with sponsorship but that would cut off UFC revenue with Reebok.
@mordorprc1
4 жыл бұрын
@@ademircb that is not true. Fighters used to have sponsorship deals that payed them a lot of money. Then the UFC signed an exclusivity contract with Reebok. This exclusivity deal translated into a huge payout to the UFC as an organisation but fucked over all of the fighters. Since then, fighters are NOT ALLOWED to be sponsored by anyone else during official media events and fights. Meaning fighters get paid peanuts by Reebok instead of the bigger amounts they used to receive when UFC allowed fighters to have sponsorship deals

Dude there are no gate sales how do you expect to pay the fighters more if there are no people coming to just and just rely on ppv sales which is absurd ! No fighters can get 1 million ppv buys now except if Connor or Nate step up or even khabib Dana has a point once the crowds starts coming into the arena you can see all theses fighters returning and shutting there mouth

Angelo Pillai I think Khabib is probably the biggest PPV star outside Conor now. In his last fight, he made the biggest fight purse ever in the UFC because he got something like 20% of the Russian population to watch + his Muslim fan base. Crazy how much the UFC makes from selling the rights to those countries

Like people talk about the moon landing one with NDT but there's others. I thought he was genuine, honest, had integrity and all that too. But there's a reason people call him a shill. And it's not the stupid flat earth stuff like he wants you to believe. It's because people buy his opinions to be sold as ads to his massive audience. And it's gross.

The thing about UFC fighter is that it's a solo sport. For other sports that have unions, they are team sports. So if half your team go on strike, you kinda just have to follow them, because it not like the team can field half the rosters, it's either all of them in, or none of them in. But for UFC it's different. It just take a couple of people, who probably desperately need the fucking money, to say yes, and the whole movement is fucked. The UFC can just go "fuck all of you on strikes, we just gonna promote these guys" and as long as they put on the show, the fan will continue to watch.

But think of the cost to rent an island, pay the commentator, the judges, all the behind the scenes guys, all advertising, tons of printing, tons of negotiating and time from Dana to put together this shit. All the stuff the ufc pays for is up there too and fighters don't look at that. Also you have people trying to get rich off one fight which I don't see a problem with it at all. @razorbeard6970

This talk is absolutely speculative and not based in reality. Right now, UFC can't afford to pay what they normally do because of the lack of live audience. In a normal setup assuming a sold out audience, the fight promotion business (all combat sports) provides a comfortable living wage for a small percentage of fighters. Most have to supplement it with other income streams. UFC is no different and can't afford to pay a living wage for every one of its fighters depending on a number of variables including demand for a fight, PPV, number of fights a year, etc.

He’s talking like boxing always gave us the best contender versus the champion. I grew up watching boxing too. Built a ring in my basement and boxed with my friends. But boxing is too corrupt. The final straw for me was when they wanted Oscar DeLaHoya to come out of retirement, go up a weight class, and have a super fight against Bernard Hopkins. Oscar had to fight someone in the weight class first, before he could have a title shot. They put him against a tall kid from Germany I think. The kid just jabbed him the entire fight and Oscar never got close. I think the kid might have won all the rounds, but he definitely won the fight. Of course the judges gave it to Oscar so they could have their super fight. I never paid for another boxing match since.

Love boxing. Boxed in high school. Watched every fight I could. But it just became blatant how corrupt and how cherry picked every opponent is for every champion. Mma isn’t perfect but it’s definitely better.

CluedUp? Yes exactly! There is no universe in which Felix lost that fight. He was robbed. I was in college, and I already knew boxing was corrupt, but that was the end for me. I will still watch but MMA has my support much more, and I won’t pay for a boxing match.

I remember Hopkins fighting Robert Allen for the 3rd time on that under card. While Sturm was beating a fat outta shape Oscar the HBO crew cut to a Praying Hopkins in the dressing room hoping Oscar could get the win.

The sale put the UFC is billions of dollars in debt to the Fertitas. They're definitely under paying fighters but also in tight spot financially. I think Endeavor also paid out $50M in dividends right before the virus hit and is now low on cash.

Guys u wanna know something fun ? When Joe explains something while hes looking down he's lying.( Or trying to corroborate a thought in which he doesn't truly believe in it) If he's looking straight he's not he's being honest (or he's corroborating a thought in which he truly believed) He has the most simple basic and clear tell of when he lies it's almost certain. It's nice there are people with this clear signs so u can analyze things better and have some fun.So every time u watch him think about this

@@Noflexing100 They could just move the PPV prelims to ESPN cards and have PPVs stacked out with title fights and high-profile / #1 contender fights. PPVs have been great in general but you do still get the ones with ridiculously bad main events.

Joe's bullshitting here and he knows it, which really hurts, because him actually speaking out against it and not playing dumb, could change the game for fighters ALOT. Boxers get paid ALOT MORE for taking on LESS risk. Poirier made 1mill for winning against mcgregor (mcgregor made 5), there were 1.6mill ppv buys, each ppv at atleast 70, which comes out to 112million JUST FROM THE PPV. HOW IS THAT FAIR? What about the sponsors, seats, merch, new fans etc. I thought this was a modern society, but fighters are getting treated as slaves
