The current economic model does not work with the reality in front of us. The fact that there's so much resistance to change at the political level makes me believe a civil war/genocide is coming. The country is so fucked.

@@ninezerotwo1778 This is what most don't seem to understand. So many people are quick to just say "get a better job" as if the literal millions of people who work low income jobs could all just up and quit and leave those jobs vacant. Grocery stores, restaurants, retail stores, teachers, etc., all of them make very little money and if everyone just got a "better job" then the market would be flooded with trade workers and no teachers...it's an incredibly stupid argument.
@BatDad-qu4fo
5 жыл бұрын
@madcheeseknight You're right, we should replaces millions, maybe tens of millions of adults working low paying jobs with a bunch of teenagers. Those businesses will certain function just fine.... That type of logic assumes that all low paying jobs are just fast food and that's just not the case, at all. I honestly get tired of these types of arguments as it makes no sense at all. As I stated in my previous comment, if people just found a "better job" then tens of millions of jobs would become vacant and entire industries would collapse. On top of that, there aren't many fields that can just accept millions of new applicants, especially considering how many people already struggle with finding good paying jobs in their field, even with a degree in a good field. Andrew Yang doesn't appeal to people who feel like they're owed something, he appeals to people who have a realistic look at the future of automation in this country and the rest of the world. You can just call everyone a socialist though if it makes you feel superior.

I'm a centrist who voted for trump, and I was thinking about doing it again. Until this guy showed up. From what I've seen from Yang, I think he'll get my vote this time around. I just hope the Democrats don't shaft him, like they did with Bernie.

@@akhilparlapalli328 I was thinking about doing it again, because I didn't see anyone else I agreed with. It was more of a lack of knowledge on my part. I really haven't been looking into other candidates until just recently. Like I just found out who Tulsi Gabbard was a few days ago, and I agree with her on a lot of things as well. The media have been pushing nothing but Bernie and the other "mainstream" candidates, which causes the smaller names to get drowned out. I find myself digging for more information about these smaller candidates. Anyways, it was a lack of knowledge on my part

Let's put things in perspective... saying suicide has overtaken car deaths is not necessarily proving there is a *HUGE* spike in suicides (not to say there isn't *A* spike) , but you have to factor in that car safety VASTLY improves almost yearly, and it's more common these days to survive a car crash that would have killed you 10- 20 yrs ago.

Money doesn't create purpose for people. The reason why young people like myself went and started a business is because we had to make money. I had nothing to start with, a high school drop out but I had to get the initiative to start from the bottom, work 14 hours, do side work, and grind to pay my bills, hustle and flow as I call it. Now ive got 2 trucks a trailer and all my tools that help me make money for my business. When I was 18, I was making quite a lot of money for my age, but basically spent every penny on booze, drugs, anything that I wanted because I wasn't paying anything and didn't understand life has purpose until I got kicked in the ass by my dad. If I had a thousands dollars every month given to me each month I would have dropped it on bills because it would be all mostly paid for doing nothing and the extra cash just keep spending it on liqour and useless shit. I wouldn't have found my purpose in life if it weren't for having to grind and worry that my hydro might be cut off, to this day I wake up each and every day with a task or an objective I need to do so I dont have to go back to my old lifestyle. If I got handed money that just covers what I need to get by, I would have never strived for more

But the money is still fiat and inflated. So the $1000 number is arbitrary and will only lose purchasing power. Gotta fix the fiat monetary problem first.
@gabrielfraser2109
5 жыл бұрын
Kiarou Nope, not how any of this works. Fiat money is real money, because we say it's real money. When the world's top 40 economists were asked if Fiat currency or Gold standard were better, 39 preferred Fiat, and the last one didn't answer. There's no reason to believe this would affect inflation or purchasing power, you might be confusing this with "Just print more money, Zimbabwe style".

I don't normally comment but I really want to input that as a father of 3 with a stay at home wife and only one income at home the difference in $1000 extra a month would honestly change our life. I immediately think of how much time I could spend away from work and doing more with my kids, more with my hobbies, more time in general spending more of my time on what I want to spend it on. $1000 a month is the same as 55 hours of work for me... that doesn't include the time I spend worrying about work, getting ready for it, driving to it. To me, that's amazing. It's a literal life changer.

@@teddythickness7734 Yes man, we live in NW Florida and are still picking up the pieces from Hurricane Michael, I work a full 40 hour week doing technical computer work and get paid almost twice what most people I know make and I'm STILL only making $18 an hour. That's way higher than most people here who live on $9-$10 in most cases! My wife stays home with the kids and I bust butt on my day job and as many side jobs as I can pick up trying to make ends meet. It's harsh out here, our economy was junk before the storm came through now it just raised the prices of everything around here while most people are just picking up and moving instead of fixing what was destroyed. It's terrible man.
