For people pointing out the false facts that Andrew is some kind of billionaire businessman, here is the truth about all of the mayoral candidates. Shaun Donovan: $20 M Raymond McGuire: $15 M Eric Adams: $1-5 M Maya Wiley: $1- 5M Scott Stringer: $1-5M Kathryn Garcia: $1.8M Andrew Yang: $1 M Most of that was from starting Manhattan GMAT Prep and Venture For America which was placing entrepreneurs in struggling communities in Detroit or New Orleans.
@SecretJanitor
3 жыл бұрын
He was actually losing out on a lot of money due to Venture for America (his non-profit) if you take into account he could have kept on going as a successful entrepreneur. But he sold Manhattan Prep / Manhattan GMAT to Kaplan/WaPo about a decade ago, banked enough from the sale to be comfortable but not super rich (e.g. one of the first things he did was pay off his parents' mortgage), and decided he wanted to give back to his country in the nonprofit sector. He could have kept going in the private sector to make more and more, but he's one of the few people in the world to say "eh, I've made enough money to be happy, what can I do to help people now?"

@@blaby4ever Nobel Prize winning economists like Milton Friedman and F.A. Hayek supported UBI. Inflation is a common concern that's getting debunked & instead said to drive up competition bringing down the cost to lower income individuals. UBI is being piloted & showing promising results in Kenya, Finland, Canada, Norway, Iran, Alaska & S. Korea.
@blaby4ever
3 жыл бұрын
@@brooklynbabygirl1143 Inflation and basic economics is an ignored concern among political supporters and laymen alike. More government aid in people’s pockets increases spending. Increased demand via spending will only increase the prices on various goods which sparks inflation. Many countries that implemented UBI were for experimental purposes. Alaska is a failed experiment which only worked under one resource (oil) being in surplus amount which made enough to fund UBI. Once oil prices dropped and production fell, the state government experienced an economic crash. Half of the UBI dividend was then vetoed to try and sustain the state’s reserves. Finland’s UBI experiment include vague variables such as stress levels, health, and financial well-being. Finland’s experiment also comes with the caveat of being employed to receive such benefits. Kenya’s experiment is at its infancy stage and is not a valid enough model to compare with a much larger American economy. Many of these experiments have not yet recorded the long-term economic effects of stock price value, free cash flow, inflation, and overall long-term economic security. Sooner or later these experiments will end like Alaska. The unpredictability of the markets will lead to UBI being underfunded and abandoned. Government aid only produces wealth circulation and not wealth generation although it carries the façade as such.
