Anduze is a picturesque town in the south of France, with narrow streets lined with medieval houses opening onto open squares and numerous highlights to be enjoyed.
The clock tower, dating back to 1320, and part of the city's original defensive walls can still be seen, as well as the original granary dating from the 15th century.
The temple was built to replace a 16th-century temple at Anduze, believed to have been the first Protestant temple in France until the Protestants were expelled in 1685, and the Church of Saint-Etienne was built on the site of the original temple.
The city's history is deeply intertwined with the history of Protestants in the region, particularly the Religious Wars, and this story is told at the Musée du Désert in the neighboring village.
