Anyone else notice the music they gave him 'A.A. Bondy'...was it changed to this after he died? 'Killed myself when i was young, With my fingers on a poison gun' Legend, but those eyes are telling a different story to what he speaks, almost as if he's already hit a point of no return, yet, a somewhat excitement when talking about his first memories though, sad. Like he says, chicks, parties, cars...they're just stuff. Surfing is something real, it changes people...RIP.

yewboi123 i surf aswell, for now 6 years or more. I can feel that, its the most spiritual sport. It changed my life. Yes it is hard to explain because each one have a different way to see surf for itself. But its not only surf that gives a good feeling, thats my point. My friend surfed but he didnt fell up to it, so he started hiking and he loves it to his life! Its about YOUR inner happiness, thats what makes a sport feels good, doesnt matter the sport.

I once met him in Hossegor (France) in autumn 2005 at an ASP contest, when I was sitting on the beach with a good old friend, the whole day long. Then, suddenly Andy came out of the water and I went to him for an autograph. He saw me and my "Hawaii Skate 84 Skate Co."-T-Shirt and smiled: "My homeland, man! Have you been there?" I answered: "Yes!" and smiled, too. Than he signed, while dozen of kids ran to us and came around. Cool guy, good moment! R.I.P. Andy!

From a person with more inter demons than probably the legal limit I could see it in his eyes which is so sad, unfortunately I never got to met Andy but man when he was clean his surfing sure showed it, I believe he would of had many more world championships if he just could of avoided what he spoke on, yes there’s many more people out here with what was troubling him sure most definitely, but I’m pretty sure not to many or if any at all had the skills that AI had in the water such a pleasure to watch surf, God Andy rest Peacefully you left way to early but it’s not your fault our lives are pre written by the big guy upstairs God.

I agree, that first sensation of standing up on a wave -- not "soup" but an actual wave -- in one of the most exhilarating experiences imaginable. It happened to me as "Scripps" in La Jolla, just south of the pier, in the incredible summer of 1963, at the age of 17, when all the surf music first came out -- Surf City, etc. In 3 months I was whipping that board around like Andy Irons (well not quite). Seems like a heavenly dream looking back. Idyllic, glassed off, two girls for every boy.
