Angela Kaset's Something in Red, which was released as a single by Dover Records in the UK in 1991. The song's best known recording by Lorrie Morgan was released in the US in 1992.
Something in Red was written by Kaset, and produced by Kaset, Jewel Coburn and Tom Dampher. Remixing and additional production by John Hudson.
Speaking of the inspiration behind the song, Kaset told The Tennessean in 1992: "One of our cars was broken down and it was late winter. I was driving my husband to work, and I saw some beautiful green plants, ivy or something, growing on a boulder. I thought, 'that's so green.' Then the lights went on in the writer in me. The colors just kind of became a vehicle for the story, and the story was the basic life-of-love kind of story that most people who ever have a relationship go through... the beginning with the red and meeting somebody and wanting to catch their eye. When I finished I felt really good. I thought, 'what a good day's work.' Then I started playing it for people. My kids really loved it. My publisher pitched it to Lorrie's producer and record label."
