I was the bass drummer on stage that night with the Strathclyde fire brigade pipe band. What an amazing experience!!! So emotional. All the NYFD wife’s along the front row with pics of their late husbands. Life changing experience for sure! Literally got the music backstage about an hour before going on stage 😂 sold out show on Broadway! During the day that day a few of us went to Rudy’s guitar shop and jammed some old blues standards, looked over my shoulder and Malcolm was behind me, asked if he could join in 😂 claim to fame for sure! 😂

I went to the Isle of Skye for the Long Distance tour and we got there just before the concert. Malcolm Jones was walking down the road as if he was going for a leasurely stroll, If he'd done that in Manchester he would have been mobbed. Oh and I am called Malcolm, there are not many of us about 🏴👍🏴🇺🇲🎸😀😁

I love that accordion music! My cousin used to play one when we were young. Good memories. I can feel so much in this music and song! God bless the families who are missing their loved ones!

My Cousin Julie played the Accordion too...she was Brilliant ...my Da Billy & family were always singing tae...Happy Times (mostly 👍😅) loved going to see her in the Town Hall ...until I was only 7 when I had to leave Scotland with my Mum left my entire family behind. I missed my 4 Grandparents middle brother & so many Cousin's. Julie taught me how to read & write before I went to School. Bcs I was away from my Mum for 3 years. 🏴💙🦢💙🏴

I'll never forget the joy and energy of that night. It was also the last best memory I have of my dad, he passed away 8 months later. Thanks Runrig, for being a part of my family's story.

@@Kim-iv4ty I'm afraid that, after Bruce Guthro's early and untimely passing, that isn't going to happen. But having seen Runrig over 20 times (with both lead singers), I can say that they were incredible live. Their last gig on the Saturday at Stirling was a truly emotional experience. I have never seen so many grown men and women crying their eyes out. And I was one of them.

Aye was really Calum and Rory who were friends, students in Glasgow when sometimes they'd be invited around for sunday dinner at Blair's mothers. She was trying to find a band for an association dance and was really struggling, Blair (as Calum said once) got an accordion out and then Rory got a guitar and then Calum started beating on something. Calum later ended getting a really awful drum kit, when he tried practising in the flat they had people were up in arms due to the noise. Played their first time at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow in 1973.

A beautiful piece . I now live in Australia ( where they have never played ) If only they would do a tour here, they would absolutely "sell out" the venues. There are many Scots who live here and have Runrig as their favourite group. They also have never forgotten Blair of Donnie since their departure. The vast population of Australia have missed out on such amazing talent unless people like ourselves share their music online with them. This is a haunting tune that brings you back to the tragedy of 9/11 but helps us remember the dedication and heroism of the emergency workers in New York....Bill....
