Angkor Archaeological Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. Angkor Thom is an ancient gated city of Khmer empire. There are five gateways into the city. The best preserved South gate leads straight to the Bayon temple. Bayon temple (pyramid shaped temple-mountain) is located in the centre of the ancient city of Angkor Thom. It rises on three levels and 216 mysterious smiling faces were carved onto 54 gigantic stone towers. Baphuon is one of the grandest of Angkor's temples. Banteay Kdei "A Citadel of Chambers" is a sprawling, largely unrestored Buddhist temple. The Rolous group (Preah Ko, Lolei, Bakong) is the earliest temple monuments to have been built in the Angkor region.
