Guarding is already in the works and will be included in part two! You will see its far safer to cut this way (when I'm done ) than zip cutting by hand.

Awesome idea!! I tried this idea "sort of" by putting a 10" abrasive disc on my radial arm saw. Not as much control as you have here, I think. Had to put a bellows around the column, though, as it threw sparks and swarf everywhere. But it did have a guard. Saw the link to your vid on FaceBook. Ignore the trolls there, they know everything about everything, don't like anything, and if you don't believe me, just ask them. Rock on sir!

You're so lucky to have a nice big shop with all those pieces just laying around. Like who has random lengths of 5/8" threaded rod just hanging around?? And galvanized to boot. I'd like to see more of this magical cupboard you mention.

I had this exact table saw and sold it a few years ago on kijiji. Wish I had the time for a project like this. BTW fine teeth on the bandsaw at the appropriate speed is what I use on my bandsaw for cutting sheet metal.

Once again a pretty cool invention!! I thought you were thinking about a guard around the disk... In the last part of the video I noticed a lot of sparks are going down, naturally, but would it hurt the grinder? Or who cares...?

@@itsnot_stupid_ifitworks I have the evolution cold cut chop saw with the 14" blade and the forged base. it's so useful (and probably too big for a saw table) as is so it's probably in no danger of being thrown into a mash-up. But I see they have a circular saw style cold-cut saw with an 9" blade - could work! I think a radial arm saw approach might work out too...

Those are nice saws. Radial arm saws on the other hand scare me. I have an old craftsman that I bought to do special pie shaped cuts for some maple tables. Can't imagine cutting steel with it.... Unless it had a something like a servo power feed.....hmmmmm
