I think the message if the film is more that you don't have to pretend everything is fine all the time. That expressing your anger is ok sometimes in situations where it is justified, and that its wrong to isolate/mistreat someone else just because they have different views than you. I.E the birds all being happy but shaming Red, whom is unable to feel happy due to being different.

Still. it's fucking sad that Rovio animation made a better movie out of a static mobile phone game ( with the source material story limited to nothing more than a very simplistic premise) than Sony were able to make out of an established FRANCHISE with hours upon hours of story and fairly well established characters. if you had asked me at the beginning of the year... I would have predicted Ratchet and Clank would be VASTLY superior to Angry Birds, such is not the case... The only things in Brave that worked were the animation and the mother/daughter dynamic. And that is not good enough to make a good film. All the other characters acted like unfunny idiots, expecially the men, the plot was predictable and too similar to Brother Bear and other turning into animal films, the fantasy elements were wastly underused and the action underwhelming, the pacing was odd and so was the tone with too much comedy in the last act and Merida was made from the worst 90s girl power tropes yet being a false action girl (look TV tropes but remember to leave there one day, that site just makes you keep clicking). Her desing and accent were the best things about her which is not good when your character should be the one we love since she was the lead. And the conflict was based on unrelatable issue form modern point of view and completely unrealistic solution form a period perspective so what was the point? It is not a bad film but one of the most flawed and dissapointing films I have seen and the most flawed film form Pixar since they should have been able to do this so much better.

Movies like this seem to fall under the "stupid but harmless" category of kid's media. It's not very smart or trying to push any boundaries, but the crew behind it knew exactly what they were making and it was a movie based on an iPhone game, so they just did the best with what was given to them and called it a day. I admittedly don't mind if every once in a while we get a simple "pandering" if you will, show it movie for kids as long as it doesn't instill any legitimately bad lessons into them. Yes, we're supposed to challenge kids and make them think more, but we already did that this year with Zootopia and plenty of other intelligent movies and shows before. Every child growing up watched a mix of crap and good stuff and only once they got older did they realize the crap was crap. It's a natural part of growing up, and if you say that you never watched and enjoyed a bad show or movie as a kid, then you're a dirty liar.

Then again, Rovio had the Toons series to base some characters on. Chuck keeps his energetic and positive personality, Red is still a temperamental but still kind hearted leader, Terrence is still a mute but sensible character, and the pigs are still douchebags. Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised if they did a sequel centered around the Stella game. Especially with the cartoon.

When I first went to see this movie, I was thinking that it was going to be terrible, but it was alright and I agree with what CellSpex said in this video that the pigs were not the best part in this movie and it sucks that they were in a lot of the movie

After seeing the movie for myself. I can safely say...yes, it WAS worth it. To me; it was funny, filled with adventure and even the characters were likeable. However, I didn't see the message of the film pushing the idea that "angry conservatism is the best answer for everything." I think the message is we all have faults, including anger. But when used at the right time, at the right person and for the RIGHT reasons. Anger could be a welcomed release

I love this channel because you're so chill with movies. You don't freak out because it isn't an artistic masterpiece or because it's immature. You don't freak out because it's too simple. If it at least entertains you, then it at least gets to be considered mediocre. Because really, don't we watch movies just for entertainment? It doesn't matter how the movie entertains you, if it manages it, then it does. Most people would call this movie horrible.. you thought it was just kinda.. meh. 'Cause at least some of it had you entertained. I respect that very much. I like your reviews a lot

What often makes affects my opinion on a movie, is the voice acting. Well.. the finnish dub to be exact. And the voice actors and acting in this movie was amazing! I like that I couldn't say: "Oh, I've already heard this voice in every single low budget kids show on tv" (which easily ruins the experience for me and many others) And, yeah, I'll admit part of the reason for me to love this movie *might* be the fact that the game is originally finnish.. But who cares?? I still love it

I just watched it for nostalgia considering it was one of the first games I ever played (the first was MARIO don’t fail me illumination) but the only scene that gave me nostalgia was at the very begging with the Angry Birds theme, not even the sling shot scenario, so yeah...

The most memorable joke for me was one that wasn't explicitly stated, in the Mighty Eagle's cave there's a sash in the background full of badges leading us to believe that he's an Eagle Scout. Which might have been the fact that I became an eagle scout in less than a month of seeing this film.

I do remember than you put Smaug from from your favorite animated moments of 2013.... so I was guessing than maybe you could things than you like in this movie.... Give it an chance! I'm sure you will be not disappointed...

I totally understand you, Celly. There are scenes i flat out didn't like (like the pissing scene), and when i first watched the trailer, i had ZERO expectations for it, and i didn't care much for the game in the first place. But then i watched it and, believe it or not, i actually enjoyed it. Oh sure, it's far from a masterpiece but it turned out to be pretty entertaining considering what it was based on. And to think this turned out to be the best video game adaptation we got all year thus far.....that has to sting for Warcraft and Ratchet & Clank.

"This includes the bird culture being portrayed as a blatant stereotype of what conservatives think liberal PC culture is like." True - in liberal PC culture, they riot, shut down your speaking events, and call for some muscle to be used to get this reporter outta here. The Angry Birds depiction is too tame to be accurate.

Ok, story that's somewhat related to the movie being reviewed. When my sister, sort of friend, and I went to to see the Warcraft movie(which was actually a decent game to movie adaptation. Which is saying A LOT) in theaters, there was a short mishap. Cause when Warcraft was supposed to be playing, they accidentally started playing the beginning of Angry Birds. Luckily another person who was there to see Warcraft went and got the problem fixed.

From at least 2 reviews, it has many issues: 1. Relying too much on meme humour which will be dated. Basically, it'll age as badly as those dumb dance songs like Hit The Quan, Watch Me and Nasty Freestyle 2. Casting all the original voice actors back except the main 3 for the girls 3. Trying too be like the original so much that it can't be its own show
