That backhand outside-in really shows the ultimate background... so familiar motion.

I forced myself to learn anhyzer shots about a month ago. I never really understood the motion of it, or why I needed it. I can play disc golf with either hand, so I just used a left or right hand hyzer depending on what situation I was in. I’m naturally right handed, and learning to throw anhyzer backhand drives opened up a new world of discs I could use. Now I can rip over on discs that are more overstable and get some great shot shapes. As far as approach shots go, I love those soft touchy anhyzer shots that pan the whole way. Specially an understable disc on a soft backhand anhyzer that floats to flat.

I like the Get Freaky Zone cryztal flx for this shot specifically. It’s still very overstable but it has a great feel. I use the Raptor-Eye sockibomb slammer for longer approach shots that are maybe 100-175 feet away.

The anhyzer approach from ~50 to 100 feet is my favorite shot. You are mainly demonstrating anhyzer forehands in this vid, but I've found the backhand anhyzer with a really overstable mid (e.g. mutant, tactic, zoro, zone os, malta) to be the best way for me to run a long putt/approach and keep the disc near the basket. I give it a loftier toss than a typical flat or hyzer approach so it has room to make a fully developed S curve, and so it always lands pretty soft. Even though I'm usually pretty good with forehand approaches, the anhyzer backhand seems much more dependable to me for this kind of shot.

I bought a Zone OS the day they were released and at first I just didn't vibe with it, so I took it out of the bag. Then I started watched my friends get themselves out of so many jams with theirs that I put mine back in the bag. I mostly just throw it on these forehand anhyzer shots and have really fallen in love with it. I play at the Fort pretty regularly so getting out of a jam is a quite common occurence.

I'm weird and throw lhbh and rhfh. I've been using the anhyzer approach for a long time now. For rfh 8 typically use a dx Rhyno, glow berg, or some form of zone. I bag 3 all in different plastic. I'll sometimes use something a little more neutral to understandable, but more often not that's for my lhbh. My other approach discs/ throwing putters are either a halo/luster invader or the inner core.

This is my putting style also, I start out with a slightly lofty annie aiming to the upper left of the basket. As it is flattening out it is dropping and lining up with the pole. If I miss from far out it is dropping and landing flat every time.

Thanks for mentioning other discs other than the Pig and Pole cat. My preferred putter for trying this shot would be my Watt or Warden. The Judge feels to bulky and the Harp may worth a try as well.

@@chrisschuster9828 the tempo actually has a much lower profile, which gives it a different feel in the hand, and it is a tick less over stable and has a tick more glide (speaking from experience with both of these discs) ! 😊

I love my Pig and I love my flex short range approach/upshot/long-putt's... I guess I have to try and find another Pig... Mines turning over (under-stable) after 2 years of it being my only putter... I even managed to Par a 770ft par5 with just the Pig (and I can bet I'll never be able to again). I have a Hyzer throw that no one really mentions... (And this is the closest I have seen yet)... As an old school Frisbee thrower (casual, not ultimate etc) I use a shot that has saved me thousands of times... and can be (for me) extremely accurate (I showed someone the other day with a throw to their disk about 50ft away and hit their disk (ok skipped away but only because it landed on plastic, not grass) So what is it.... An old school frisbee throw... Using a stable disk (I use an old Scorch), standing facing the target on a 45deg angle... Focus on the target, straight arm backhand from behind/beside the hip, across and up (angle dependant on the wind, usually 30-45deg) out to the side on an imaginary big arc to that target... (ok so I can 'Pocket power' it to get more distance but I can straight arm Hyzer over 200 ft) get it right and it almost always lands in line with your focus... throw harder/softer for range... The result.... For some interestingly bizarre reason.. I seem to land directly in line (maybe somewhere between a bit short/long) or... off to the left/right but near perfect range.... (I'd love to see the plot results as I feel I'm making a nice + pattern with the bulk just short or just left (I'm right handed and I find more are pushed left in the wind than shot down to the right... Best result was just this Sunday, 330ft from Tee, downhill about 80ft.... dang if I didn't smash through the chains for a 5ft putt from beyond... (No one watching so unfortunately "It didn't happen")

Hey Robbie, love the video, can't wait to use this technique next time I play. I'm fairly new at disc golf and summer I have been playing and watching a lot of disc golf on KZitem, I always hear you, Hunter and Trevor, and others say "overstable, stable and understable." I kinda know what that means, overstable goes left, stable goes straight, and understable goes right, on a righthanded backhand throw (which is what I throw normally). I was wondering how can I tell if a disc is overstable, stable, or unstable. Is it in the fight numbers or do I just have to throw the disc to figure it out? Thank you for your videos they've really helped me out while I'm learning to play this game.

Disagree with the Polecat option. As you demonstrated yourself in the video, Polecat is too touchy for this shot, especially with wind in play, many of those approaches will end up rolling away from the basket. Berg or a beat-in harp or zone are actually perfect. Key is to practice the shot with one specific disc instead of many different ones, because you want to really dial in one stability.
