I quite commonly find spotted salamander eggs with algae in the gel! I always thought it was the eggs going bad, but now, I wonder

No I don't. The snail came into my home in Edmonton Alberta on a bunch of parsley. I think the parsley came from Mexico. They look exactly like a Helix pomatia.

Hmmm. It's possible they are eating such a small amount that it's not noticeable. Since protein is much more filling. But if you are certain they aren't, you could try to maybe spread some on their favorite foods. Maybe even cucumber so they will be more inclined to eat it. If spreading their protein source on their foods works, over time you can slowly have less of the other food and more of the protein. Basically tricking them into getting used to it. But don't stress too much if they seem healthy. I hope this helps!

Ollie, I have tried feeding my garden snail various animal protein sources including your seed and blood worm mix. Hugo refuses all of the choices including rehydrated salmon and high quality cat kibble. Will my snail die without animal protein?

Do you have any idea what species it could be?

@@ExploringExotics hi Ollie, have you found anything out about whether a snail can live without animal protein? I can’t find any information about it. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. 🙏

Hi, loved this video! It's so fascinating, and you present it in a really engaging way. I was just wondering if you could provide the sources in the description? I really want to find that video of spotted salamander embryo growth :D
