Hey Fergus , I'm really struggling with the process of going from blocking to spline. Would you ever consider making an extended tutorial like this one on how to deal with spline ? Or maybe do u have any online sources that can help me with that? I would appreciate your help so much! Thanks mate and keep being awesome.

That’s a great question! There are two styles. My style is doing a very limited blocking pass and going to spline almost instantly. I prefer to see the the motion from the start. Other animators might stay in blocking almost until polish. They prefer to see each pose as a drawing and craft it from there. I would say that you need to work out which feels easy to watch. If you find early spline too confusing, stick to stepped! I have another video on my channel from last year where I show a hybrid blocking workflow. Maybe that can help :)

@@FergusAnimation I prefer staying in blocking for way longer , usually until it's on 2s or 4s. But I'll make sure to check your workflow as well , in case i ever feel like trying it. Thanks mate

Yeah, nothing wrong with that :) Even though I work in spline now, learning how to do a proper steppes workflow is really important. Thanks for watching :)

It seems that only few people are interested in the animation process. :)

That’s alright. I make these videos just as much for myself. :)

Ты сможешь анимировать целую сцену на 15-20 секунд? Сколько это займет времени? Can you animate an entire scene for 15-20 seconds? How long will it take?

Hey :). It depends on a lot of things. If it is the same camera angle as this tutorial, with 1 character and little dialogue, I’m still spending at least 2 or 3 days. Polish can take time. Thanks for watching. How much do you animate?

@@FergusAnimation What a pity that this is a very long process. Is it possible to speed it up somehow? Besides using mockup.

@@FergusAnimation How many hours of work did you put into the job you described??

Well, quality matters. For television, you can sacrifice quality. You can definitely speed things up. At work, I have studio library with lots of poses and animation from previous shots and templates that I’ve made for myself. For example, mouth shapes. I don’t have to make them every time. And of course plug-ins can speed things up too. I use animbot at work which makes everything a bit faster.
