Calliope Pony I actually didn't like the anime adaptation of the little princess. I was angry that James and Molly didn't get what they deserved for what they did to sarah in the anime version of little princess. And Sarah was too sweet in the anime version of little princess. While in the book sarah was headstrong.
@CalliopePony
4 жыл бұрын
I agree that they made Sarah too sweet. The anime really made her into a Yamato Nadeshiko, which doesn't work with her book personality. The anime has some other problems too. It's not a perfect adaptation; it's just the best I've seen so far. I do love that they actually got her appearance right. Most adaptations make her into a blue-eyed blonde despite the fact that she's supposed to have green eyes and black hair. The anime also has a big advantage in being a series, since they can take their time with the story. The movies always have to cut a lot for time.
@TheAngelmisa
4 жыл бұрын
Calliope Pony I heard the 1980s live action tv series of little princess is good. Im still not a fan of the anime version of little princess I didn't mind the headmistress and Lavinia turning good they had they're breaking points atleast and showed some humanity for example Lavinia knew that taking Sarah's doll away was too far and too cruel I knew that deep down inside Lavinia was disgusted with herself for trying to steal Sarah's doll away from Sarah and the headmistress and Lavinia were humilated and were punished enough and the headmistress was scared that if Sarah would die on the cold streets. While James and Molly didn't get humiliated and they didn't get punished made me angry. Also James and Molly didn't have breaking points and James and Molly didn't show humanity. Which made me angry. I hate James and Molly.... I hope James and Molly got what they deserved offscreen.

Ah, i remember the anime of this story, i used to watch it a lot as a kid. I still remember a few scenes like when an old guy told Sara that if you don't want to talk about a specific topic then simply change the subject and another scene where Sara didn't eat anything for 3 meals and found like 10 cents outside the bakery, the bakery owner refused to take the money and gave her 5 loaves of bread, soon after Sara met another girl that didn't eat for 4 meals and gave her 4 out of the 5 loaves.
@swanpride
6 жыл бұрын
That's one of the most important scene in the book. Sara is really hungry at this point, but she first asks in the bakery if someone might have lost the money and then the bakery owner does take the money, but gives her a little bit more than it is worth it (Sara has her pride after all - it is the only thing she clings to). Sara then encounters a starving child and gives it most of her bread. I don't think that they mentioned it in the anime, but the bakery owner is inspired by her action and takes the starving street urchin in as helper in the bakery, and also starts to give out left over bread. Sara later decides to pay her in exchange for feeding every starving child she sees.

How come they can never get Sara's hair right? She's supposed to have BLACK hair, not blonde! Also, there's an anime adaptation? Because there was an anime adaptation of Burnett's third most popular novel, Little Lord Fauntleroy. Huh. Most anime are, if not an original story, adapted from manga. Then again, there's a Magic Tree House anime too. You know, that ongoing children's book series from the 90's about two kids named Jack and Annie who discover a tree house that allows them to travel back in time? That's an anime now.

I saw the Shirley Temple one as a kid and I didn't like it at all due to how Sarah was treated. Irony of that movie though is that the person who plays that bratty girl, I think that actress played Heidi's city friend in the Shirley Temple movie, Heidi. You know the girl who couldn't walk? But I didn't know that the author who wrote this story also wrote The Secret Garden. Honestly I preferred that one, movie wise because I never read those stories. As a kid, I never read that much due to how hard it was for me to read.
