FANTASTIC video!! As a long time Maya animator (who is helpless without animBot) I learned so many valuable tips about Blender's animation features. Your trick for colored selection sets is awesome. I will definitely use that. AnimAide solves so many problems that I had when migrating from Maya to Blender. I didn't know about Blender's built in motion trail. There's a great motion trail add-on for Blender I picked up during a Blendermarket sale. Forgot the exact name of the add-on but it's almost as good as animBot's trail. Man, I really wish there were colored bookmarks in Blender. One thing that is not an animBot feature but a Maya thing that I REALLY want in Blender is how autokey only sets keys on the attributes you've already keyed. In Blender, every thing gets keyed even if you haven't touched it (like scale urgghh). I have to manually create key sets (forgot what they're called) that only include what I want keyed (eg. trans & rot) Thanks for a great video. I learned a lot! EDIT: I just watched your "The Key to Effective Keyframing!" vid ......my autokey problem solved!!! I just went to your Gumroad and bought your DeadPool character to support you. You are my hero right now, haha! (heavy metal emoticon)

This is so valuable! I have been trying to switch over to blender, and I am just comfortable enough with it now to do basic animations. But I always go back to Maya for anything complex because I get to use animbot there. The more knowledge like this gets shared with the community, the more us Maya addicts will be able to cut the maya cord.

A huge thanks for the video, very informative. People tend to forget about 3Dsmax, all these features are already built-in, no addon required. I'v used Maya for years, and to be honest, the more i'm learning about Blender, the more i don't understand the hype for Maya in term of animation. Seems like people only use it because that's what teachers mostly teaches in schools.

I think ytube listing this stream ending 45 mins ago could be inaccurate, you have graphics in the "stream" like corrections for keys you used (!) If you or anyone can point to courses in Blender or Maya about the vector shape vocabulary, that would be greatly appreciated...

@@lucianomunoz, I find the difference between pro and amateur or hobbyist is in the details. The Pro can keep in memory way more subject specific details and act on them, consciously or unconsciously, than the casual person that is happy she made a ball bounce. I want to be good enough to make a butt cheek snap, kzitem.info/news/bejne/qG9n0ZqKoKKbfaw 1:01, to get the overshoot, and not like a PS4 fighting game, realistically. My ex-wife had a sideline gig as a pro belly dancer, so I think of stuff like that in a technical way. I don't mean twerking in this case, more like Shakira, but she was only a good beginner belly dancer btw. Idk y, but I consider that and making my characters dance, the bar to know I have become capable, not great, but capable, because of being able to handle: speed, tempo (on a beat or change), timing (like the idea in the Breakdowner, so between keyframes), and movement. I may have found a couple more tuts that are at least scratching intermediate, but with all due respect how tf did you gain the skill you have now? Was it literally learning Maya in college or trade school? I won't learn Maya or go to college again (!), mostly cause after your first Masters degree, you can't get loans anymore (I call shenanigans!) Pls don't tell me you random walked figured it out yourself, because though possible, it's not guaranteed success by a long shot, and it's slow af potentially leaving gaping holes in knowledge while at the same time maybe learning some stuff that very few have figured out. For the "basics" to intermediate, I'm looking for a rational walk if possible. That's why I queried. The reason for the "technical" terms is because I've been running into issues where I can't even look up the function I want in the Blender docs, because I would need to know the term first, and if I did, I probably wouldn't have to look it up. I catch22... Enjoy and ty for your feedback.

jeff spinner I treat myself as a sponge, i expose myself to as many talented people as i can, i do small projects constantly actually the only time i do big projects is at work, but small projects at home allow me to tackle different problems and find solutions, also connect with people that have similar interests but different experiences allows you to have extra pairs of eyes that my know the solution to your problem, but at the beginning it was lonely in blender, so i relied on blender artists forum and then started finding stuff like the blender irc, then twitter, blender.chat and so on, you should see the ammount of unfinished files i got lying around just because they’re experiments that served the purpose of learning. Also did adverts pretty much entirely in my own, which also helped me power through some problems, or learn how to do it better and faster Not to say that ive learnt all on my own, ive taken 3 big courses, and a bunch of smaller ones, Believe me with the money i’ve invested i should be way better than i am.

Blender's precise adjustments are as precise as you want them: you can use the decimal point (eg, 3.1415). Also, (by default*) if you press =, you can enter equations: sqrt(2), e, acos(0.2)*180/pi and even full float notation (1e-3). * There's a setting in user preferences that puts blender's input into equation mode from the start so you don't need to use =

The problem is the moment you start punching in the numbers then you cant move them little by little anymore you need to figure out the exact nunber, instead of being able to move it in very tiny increments witch at the end if the day ends up being more tedious than trying to match by hand, but If you want to still use the arrows and get it to be more precise, zooming in gives you more.
