Good video, the Anker F3800 system is decent. I have two F3800's and 6 BP3800 expansion batteries and a Home Power Panel... so I am speaking from experience. Unfortunately I would not buy again because but they essentially have no customer service. And when they do firmware upgrades, they don't know the changes in specs. Each call or chat takes hours and each response it automatic and says they will reply in 2 days... even for the most basic questions. So unless you're a solar expert, don't count on ANKER for any help unless you have a ton of patience.

I have found most power unit companies have slow customer service

Have it. Love it. Mine is hooked to the smart panel and charges off the solar panels that are already on our roof. It has what’s called self consumption mode. So when the sun comes up, whatever we aren’t using in the house diverts itself to the f3800 until it’s charged. Which for us, it’s fully charged by 9:30am every day. We have 3 ac’s. Usually we only have one running. So solar handles it. But if I run multiple ac’s. Or power hungry devices. Let’s say that needs 5kwhs and my solar is only making 4kwh. Then that 1kwh that’s needed comes out of the f3800. Once we stop using less power. It charges itself again. If you’re using this as a home backup with a smart panel installed. None of the charging port stuff matters. You’ll never use them. It plugs into the smart hub and that’s it. We love the system and in 3 weeks it saved us $70. Which isn’t oh my goodness we’re rich money. But if it can save us $100 a month. I’m in. I already want to get the expansion batteries, as using nothing but the house essentials. Fridges. TVs. Lights. The battery will be dead by 9pm. So it runs the house from 6ish ok until 9:30pm. If we really cut back it gets us to 11pm. But the goal is to go from full power, and through the night. I should also add their customer service is amazing. I bought mine. 3 days later it was cheaper. They gave me the difference. Then a week later, another sale. They gave me that difference. Within 30 days they work with you. I also got a micro air soft start for my house. Which I love. And highly recommend as that company is amazing. I wouldn’t say it’s a necessity as the ac isn’t plugged directly into this. So it’s not went over it’s 6,000. Our grid takes the hard hit then diverts from this Lastly. Every night we are watching tv when the power goes from f3800 back to grid. Never noticed. It’s nice.

I have been struggling to figure out which panels will work and how to wire them. Thank you for all the great information! I would like to see a video showing how to connect the wires behind the panels?
@portercreek
6 ай бұрын
I wired the top left and bottom left in series(plugged the negative from the top panel into the positive of the bottom panel), then the middle top and the middle bottom in series and then the top right and bottom right in series. This will leave you with 6 plugs left, 3 positive and 3 negative. You then plug them into the three way splitter that came with the unit or one from the link in the description. Then from the splitter to the Anker you need to make sure you are using 10 gauge PV wires. Does this make sense? These panels are the closest panels I have found to getting to the maximum solar input and the fact that they are bifacial is a huge plus because we get snow where i am and they will help them produce more and melt the snow off faster!

Thank you for doing this video. I live in an apartment. I want to buy Anker F3800 plus one Anker 400w portable solar panel. Could you tell me where to connect Xt60 to the generator ( you said it has 2 different parameters) ? I am 70 year old women & never see solar generator/panel in my life. This video is very educational for me.

I ran the numbers on your 6 panels. I get 46.8 volts 25.65 amps. That is over the f3800 25 amp limit? Is that ok?
@portercreek
5 ай бұрын
You need to use the open circuit voltage which is 56.2 combined. The voltage you can never go over but the wattage you can. It is like an outlet in your house, if you plug an appliance into a 15amp outlet that only draws 5 amps, this is okay. The solar panels are like the wall outlet, they feed the inverter. I have an Oupes solar generator too and I have 3130watts going into it and it is rated for 2400watts. I wouldn’t recommend going over that much, it’s just what I had for panels but it handles it without any issues. Does this make sense?

Just using the 1200w setup how much electricity does it maker per day? Please share full sunny days and results on cloudy days.

This month has been very rainy, the best days are just over 10kw a day of solar. I don’t think we had any days that were full sun from morning to night. My worst day was just over 1kw of solar but it was 1 day, it must have been storming all day that day. I had 2 days that were 2kw and 3 that were 3kw and one day at 7kw and the rest were 8-11 My panels also get a little shade on the tops or the panels for a few hrs every day. I have seen over 11 before. I need to get them mounted on the roof, I just haven’t had the time to do it yet so they are leaning against the house.

@@portercreek Your 200w 30 VOC panels cost around $163, for 1200w input it costs $978, what I am thinking is to get used panel and put them in string, the 60v input limit make this much harder, many used 250-300w panels have 37 or 45 VOC, 60 V input make it hard make 2 string and 2 or 3 parallel configuration, other product that take higher input VOC make it possible.
