The actress playing Jen Pringle feels like she's in another movie entirely. Everyone else is in a wholesome family period drama, meanwhile she's over here playing a borderline dangerous sociopath in a Hitchcock film.

Megan Follows has such a unique look. She can look very sweet and very intimidating at the same time. She's a terrific actress and this scene, she was amazing with her delivery of the strap to the Pringle girl.

I agree. The new series is 'based' on LM's books but theirs is not Anne at all if one has read the books and considered what they were trying to say. The new series is preachy, activist and ideological. Everything that LM's books were not. But then the new series is lots of new stories that were not in the books at all and that never worked before. Only LM knew how to write LM. Megan IS Anne and Sullivan recreated what feels like the same atmosphere to the books: kindness, forgiveness and love. No other version comes even close.

I admit I liked the first season, but after that it went way off track. I didn't mind a few bits of dark reality, but they changed the story to the point where it wasn't Maud Montgomery's novel anymore, it was a woke piece of propaganda. I loved the cast of both 1985 and 2017 versions but if the creator and writers of Anne with an E wanted to have a show be about the new civil rights struggle, they should have just created an original Victorian era show from their own imagination. Before anyone calls me names, I am queer.

I know this is not polite, as they were mocking, humiliating and lying to Anne, but the Pringle daughters' imaginary/false names (particularly their choices of name-combining), then Jen claiming to be thirty-three years old have always cracked me up. In spite of the jeering, Anne handled the class as best she could and impressively.

This is but one of my favorite scenes/parts of the show. The way that Anne handles the tricks, that the Pringle girls attempting to Pull the Wool over Anne's eyes, concerning their names, is very mature/& too the way that she handled the Snake in her desk trick. . . .very smart/mature for a young Woman, her age. Especially. because she didn't know what the *possible reprocussions could be. . . .for handling those kinds of things.

imagine a little known part of Canadian history, at least, "that area" of the Confederation did not make John Mac Donald's dream come true until 1949 I believe. My paternal grandfather was a teacher at one point. He got into an argument once with a student and told the student that the teacher always has the last word. This student had the brass to say "How does the teacher always have the last word?" And my grandfather did in response was hold the grade book up and say "This.". And if he kicked you out, you weren't allowed back in the rest of the day. He also didn't like the grade system where if you got a 65, it's an "F" or 100, it's an "A". If he gave you an "A", it's because you earned it.
