Okay seriously, how the hell can Gary Beach put so much into every song he's in. I want to have that kind of energy in a single dance move! Honestly he's just freaking amazing.

Have you ever been a theater and found that you're the ONLY ONE laughing out of control and everyone is staring at you? That's what happened to me when I saw Gary Beach in The Producers in LA. He was past Brilliant and I couldn't stop laughing.

Really? Are you serious? Do you know how rare an audience shot capture is from 1980?? Video cameras were huge! This is an excellent capture compared to some of the other 80's shows available.

I can’t believe some of the Annie actors were also in Beauty and the Beast, and Gary was one of them (He also played Lumiere)! Other actors include: Andrea McArdle (Annie/Star-to-Be/Miss Hannigan/Belle), Tim Curry (Rooster/Forte), Bernadette Peters (Lily St. Regis/Angelique), Audra McDonald (Grace Farrell/Garderobe), Christopher Sieber (Daddy Warbucks/Gaston), Merwin Foard (FDR/Baker), Sarah Solie (Ensemble/Village Lass) and much more…

This is the first time I have seen the original set on line. Note the treadmills (there are 2 although that isn't clear in this vid) taking the scenery off as the dance continues. I played Rooster, and it was fun working with treads. Our choreographer got us dancing the last part on the treads once the office had cleared. You just needed to be careful to step on it with the correct foot to avoid going base over tip. We posed at the end and we glided off. I really hope more of this production appears on line showing the set changes which were one of the big features in the show. NYC and The radio to orphanage change in particular. The first time the audience saw the set and cast gliding off, when the girls get back on the beds with "Lucky duck, She's out there free, Running free in NYC", the audiences would gasp. Backstage, as there wasn't a lot of room in the stage left wing area, the beds came off, and as they did so, an orphan was grabbed and passed to crew back in the wings, and the beds were passed over heads to clear the space. It was as much a production as what was happening on stage.

@@johndalton3180 Hi John. It was Alice Worsley who was a local radio star. She was Hannigan in the second production, and Elaine Bracey (who looked remarkably like Carol Burnett at the time) was the amazing Hannigan in the first production in Auckland. I was Rooster in both productions, and my Lily both times was Viv Smith

Gary Beach is great. I had the privilege of seeing him on broadway in "The Producers". Stole every scene he was in. Betty Hutton isn't doing anything for me. She has great presence, but her singing is flat and pretty bad. Compared with other actresses who have played the role like Dorothy Louden, Nell Carter and even Andrea McArdle, her voice doesn't hold up.
