Look at the way Worbucks looks at her when she starts singing. It's a great little character moment. You can tell that he's amazed by her optimism and sincerity despite his better judgement. Another thing I like is that it's very subtle. Usually in movies the camera zooms in on the characters face as he/ she gazes adoringly at the object of their affection. This film keeps the focus on Annie, since it's Annie's moment, but shows that Worbucks is sharing it with her in the background, and developing a stronger bond with her in the process.

It started when Annie stands up from her chair and asks the President "How could I help?". Worbucks then joins Annie and the President in this one frame. Worbucks stands tallest among the 3... he is a towering figure as he is. The President confers with Annie while Worbucks tries to include himself into the discussion. Then Annie start singing... and Worbucks so subtly sinks down... lower than Annie... indicating that he is humbled by this girl... he now looks smaller than Annie. Great blocking!

call me cheesy and sentimental but this scene is so "symbolic" in a way.... when they're singing at the end you have Warbucks who is the symbol of American strength and possibility, a caring president for the people standing for what government should be, and a poor but resilient orphan who's had a tough life but yet is still able to provide hope to others still while battling through so many issues as a young child. And there they are all standing/singing together in front of Washington's picture ~ even though they disagree ~ it's actually an amazing scene.

Daddy Warbucks was quite a jerk at the beginning of the movie, but at least was able to learn from his mistakes, loved Annie unconditionally, and actually had a heart beneath that stern personality. Annie’s “Tomorrow” song is just beautiful. I’ve actually sung it quite a lot this year while we get through this pandemic and as we awaited the election results this week. This isn't the only time that Hermann played Roosevelt. He played President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the television movie “Eleanor and Franklin” in 1976 and its sequel “Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years.” Mr. Herrmann was nominated for Emmy Awards for both programs, which were so widely viewed that for many years afterward he was very closely associated with Roosevelt. He reprised the part in the 1982 film of the musical “Annie." And in Ken Burns’ recent multi-part documentary “The Roosevelts,” he voiced FDR again in the same fluid, flavorful tones.

I Love this movie, I was 5 years old when it out came out in Theaters, it was the first one I saw in Theaters, I remember my mom brought me at least 5 times. That year my mom let me dress as little orphan Annie, had the dress made for me with little black patten leather shoes and at the time I wanted my mom to have my long hair cut and permed just like Annie's, and she did!! I think back now at the age of 42, almost 3 years after my mom's been gone and feel lucky the I not only got to tell her she was the best mom ever, but that they weren't just words, I truly meant it, I mean how many little girls, especially now, have gotten to have an orphan that appreciates the bare minimum in life as their childhood role model so to speak!!??? Tomorrow is a song that over the years has applied to many different situations in my life, none of the newer Annie's, although good themselves, ever carried the meaning and message that this one did. Thank you Mom for showing me by just bringing me to see this movie, numerous times, that there is always "Tomorrow!!!!"" I Love and miss you Mama

One of the things I dislike about the remakes is that they’re not set during Roosevelt’s administration. This scene especially because it’s where u get that real sound of music old-timey feel and little orphan Annie can truly be an inspiration for American children of all backgrounds. This is when the cities and orphanages were still more akin to the Industrial Age. This story just doesn’t feel the same with me set in our current time. Some movies just shouldn’t be remade. The outdated movie quality adds to the nostalgia and keeps it a classic. But Hollywood realizes that more than enough people will come see the remakes just for the names alone and people keep giving their money for them which just encourages Hollywood to continue doing it. Literally no classics are safe anymore.
