Congrats! As a fellow software engineer & musician I want to add this: don't waste your time & money on "copy protections" or DRM. They don't actually prevent illegal use, and make both your life and the life of the consumer more miserable. And in the best case, you'll have a pipeline of customers that learn about the product from a piracy site, but they like it enough to go to buy & support the author, or recommend it to the studio they work with.

This was a decision that I debated for a while. There is quite a good argument for not copy protecting. In theory, copy-protection only delays the inevitable moment when someone cracks your product. There is a solid argument that paying customer will not even consider pirating, while illegal downloaders will never consider buying if they unsuccessfully search for a free version. So why even bother? I do have my reasons for choosing to copy-protect Tremor that are related to server communication, but I wouldn't be surprised if I change my mind on future products. This is my chance to experiment with business models and marketing, so I'm interested to see, first-hand, how the public reacts to different methods for packaging product.

@@BeepBoopAudio First off, good luck on your new venture. As to copy-protection, why not as long as NO i-Lok is used, absolutely hate it with a passion. Why not also make available "lite" versions which are free but lack certain features such as automation and so on and absolutely no support, only the full versions get that. Best way to get users hooked and hopefully they will want (and pay) for the deluxe version. Heck, you could even make the graphics uglier on the "lite" versions so at least one can get a feel for the sound and it may just also motivate people to buy the full versions for the eye-candy as well. Then, please add support for other operating systems as well, Windows is no longer the only ticket in town. Linux does support VST3 natively if the binary is compiled for it. Not sure about MacOS, maybe they also do or maybe AU3 only, sorry not a MacOS user.

@@BeepBoopAudio server communication or subscription models would deter me from purchasing a product. a lite version would be tempting along with option for a lifetime purchase level and/or purchasing with free updates for 'current' build until next full revision number. also, i second making this avail for linux. exciting though and good luck!

Fantastic plugin, really high quality stuff man, great job. I wish it was Linux compatible so I could give it a try soon (I do work with a lot of Win plugins via Wine though), but for now, just wanted to drop a word of support and I hope you find plenty of success on your new venture

Would love to make it Linux compatible in the future. There are so many additional factors I would have loved to tackle, but I didn't want this to become a neverending project. Hopefully I can make enough from Mac and Windows users to be able to quit my job, allowing me to focus more on making Beep Boop Products available for more people including yourself.

Providing a free demo version of a plugin significantly increases expenses and support ticket volume for an individual in my position. I'm researching the possibility of this, but for now I provided a walkthrough video that demonstrates the capabilities of the plugin. Thank you for your patience as I experiment and learn about running my first business.

It makes a pretty cool sound when you automate that XY control? Isn't it obvious what you should do then? Add internal modulation to that XY control. At least an LFO, but a sequencer with control points would even be better. And since it changes the pitch, make it possible to add a stereo offset to the control points. That makes the sound much wider.

Turns out you can use it on an audio track for video editing software. I only have DaVinci Resolve, so I can't personally confirm what other video software it works in. PLEASE NOTE. The rate of the tremolo is exclusively based on session tempo (for now). You can set session tempo in music software, but I don't think you can for video software. So it is a fun effect to throw on a video track as long as you're ok with it not being perfectly synced with film music.

The reveal part is a nice demo of what you can do.. but unfortunately it would have been nice to hear it in stereo. Or is it monophonic output with monophonic input? Like, is it's stereo spread 1 to 1 with pan position?

@BeepBoopAudio

iPadOS + iOS is not a high priority currently. I have looked into creating a time-limited trial version, but that comes along with additional expenses and MANY more support tickets. I plan to research further to see if this is possible for Beep Boop Audio, or if it will put me too far in the red as just one guy starting my first business.

Valid request. The plugin sits between 2% and 3% on my computer that has an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU. I wanted to account for less powerful computers, so I included script that deactivates the animation if the plugin UI is not displayed in your DAW. I also reluctantly removed glass glare from the animation because it was making it too beefy for weaker computers. That was a sad day because it was so beautiful.

Not an iLok. I do also have to sign Pro Tools plugins (AAX) with an iLok, but the USB stick I showed is something completely different. Users do not need an iLok to use Tremor in DAWs that are not Pro Tools.
