ADHD and ASD is a real thing, it will be helpful to use this as a teachable moment please. Kindly do some research and use your platform to educate us pls. We have had to counsel Parents that have broken down in tears due to the frustration. Having been in the industry for almost 15 years and working with local authorities as well as charities and going through trainings, it is a real thing. Can behaviours be modified? Yes, but again this is with the right training, insight and consistency. I wish everyone well and I sympathise with the family and the child as well as those on the plane.

My child tried screaming in the plane when he was 4 years old. I did everything to calm him down. Everyone's eyes 👀 were on me. I got angry. I pinched 🤌 the boy so hard and I told him if you continue I am going to open the window for you. Right away he sat down and slept for 4 hours. Today he is 12 years old and he never forget the pinch.

I was stuck in a 13-hour bus ride with a child like that. And the parents came prepared, in the sense that they had hear protection and spent their time starring at their laptops as if it was not their child acting up. The bus driver made two announcements - parents, please be considerate of the other passengers - then he gave up. After roughly the first four hours, a lady turned directly to the mother and asked her to do something. The answer was that the child had paid for his ride. A shouting match followed and the bus driver threatened to throw the lady out of the bus, because, yes, the child had paid for his ride. So, we just lived with it.

To those talking about ADHD and autism, that doesn't excuse nonsense. Instead of training and disciplining your kids, you leave it for the drugs and medications to do your job. Autism or adhd doesn't excuse stoopid behaviours. Even if the child is clinically diagnosed (I'm saying clinically diagnosed cause some people will just conclude this is what is doing their child without going to the doctor), discipline them. Correct them when they need corrections. At least, they're not dumb. They have a brain, and they should be able to understand the meaning of consequences. Im not saying abuse your child, but let them understand that some of the things they do can make others uncomfortable. If you were on that flight, I'm sure you wouldn't think of autism or adhd, and if you do, you'd probably want the child to shut up and the mother to do something about it.

People are just commenting without considering that maybe the child is not mentally okay. Maybe the child had undiagnosed disabilities that affect the child from entering flight. If you're travelling with an ASD child, you need to inform the gate attendant so that they will allow you to board early to avoid queue so that the ASD child will not kick off. The only way they express themselves is by screaming, kicking off, hitting, or throwing something. Now let us come to spirituality, which many people will not agree with me. Sometimes, children see a lot of things we don't see, but they find it difficult to explain. So please don't let us blame the child.

I agree with you but sometimes these kind of kids are just spoilt kids. I used to behave the exact way like this kid when I was a toddler. Infact I was worse than him. I was living with my grandma and Dad but Dad was always working. Grandma never wanted to see anyone touching me. She will tell my dad " Don't slap my grandchild she is just a kid."I was so disrespectful. Most people said maybe I have a problem. There is a time my aunt came to stay with us when grandma was sick. She had a small kid and I used to scream at night and the small kid couldn't sleep. One night my aunt got up and gave me one hot slap. I stopped screaming immediately. The following day I refused to go to school. She gave like 3 slaps and told me not to misbehave again. From that day I changed to a very disciplined and calm girl. Always the best in class. My aunt told me dad not to spare me when I do something bad. I'm 22yrs old now. That girl who is a role model to other girls in the village. My neighbours always tells their girls to be like me. Now my aunt is my best friend. She helped me!!
