Hey guys, no this is not an audition video haha. I just came to notice that they don't have a bassist anymore. (You know while doing my usual tag "research")
This time it's just a song I was in the mood for. Classic Decapitated is always a delight, and this one technically was on some bucket list. Or at least some old Decapitated. But I was too lazy. Since I always loved this song and there was no accurate tab, I figured I should give a go. The other possible song would've been "Lying And Weak".
Since it's not overly complicated in terms of structure, time signatures and other shenanigans, making a tab was relatively easy. It's just the solos that were a bit annoying. The shred parts are a bit "floaty" on the record, and I don't see a point in transcribing that with 100% accuracy, as with those parts it's always hard to make out what they were intended to be. Like, is it sloppy playing? Or is it supposed to be floaty? Or are those strict x-tuplets? Voggs playing is slighty sloppy in those solos compared to his later records. I notated in the solo where the notes and rhythms are just an approximation. For me that is enough usually, and I just go with the vibe and adjust to the record. I don't care about 100% tight playing as much as you guys think I do haha.
BUT, that mentality also bit me in the ass lol. I only added the wah sound later to hide some sloppiness muahaha. Like I'm not on point with the record in the first solos shred part. Had trouble while mixing, and since the original record uses that kind of nasal sounding tone anyway (maybe it was a wah there too, just not "played". He is a wah user after all) I just reamped with a wah. And I "played" it with the big dial on the axe fx haha. No programming.
If you want a tight right hand, this is your song. No, it's your album. No, it's your band! Even if Decapitated is not a big influence on me anymore, it still was on my right hand. I jammed a lot of their stuff back than. So should you! Them, Psycroptic, Necrophagist, that was my jam the last years of school haha.
What else? Well, Vogg for me (and not just for me I guess) was always the brutal death metal Dimebag. He has that same vibe, but just more brutal. Great vibrato, great alternate picking shreds, and great rhythm chops.
Well, like I said, I was just checking out old Decapitated and got in the mood of learning this song. That's the only reason for the video. Don't have much to add :)
Enjoy the video and the tab! :)
