was awaken just after 3am last night in Iowa with a great boom of thunder, laid in bed till nearly 5am watching the lightning, and listening to the rain and thunder. Then turned off the 7:30am alarm clock, rolled over and went back to sleep - man I love retirement

In 1974, I took an August backpacking trip to Isle Royale in Lake Superior. At the time, we took a momentary leap into the waters. Absolutely frigid. I just traveled to the North shore of Minnesota a few days ago and was able to swim in Lake Superior for an extended time. Still cold but far more endurable. The warm up is more than pronounced. It's dystopian.
