I saw you struggle with the file on the previous episode and am happy to see you pick up the draw knife. Much better choice.

I see you struggling with the multi-tool blade. I carve walking staffs, too. There's a great Morakniv carving knife for about $22 on Amazon. They're famous for razor sharp blades. This is has a black & purple 🟣 handle. They have knives fat rubberized handles for comfort and anti slip properties. The scandi grind is easy to maintain even for those who know little about knife sharpening. It's already sharp AF. Just needs occasional strop. It's not as small as a standard woodcarving blade but close. Very affordable and Mora quality budget knives are unsurpassed.

A nice set of Whittling & woodcarving bench knives with convex cutting & concave cutting blade profiles would be nice to have ???

Damn nice hiking staff though !!! something tells me that you will end up with a crutch stopper on the end of it eventually ? Walmart has replacements for cane's & crutches & drug stores also !!!

Do you ever use wood filler for cracks, and if so any suggestions for a good durable filler? Thanks for the video. The animations are quality.

I mostly fill in cracks when the stick would fall apart if i left it. I use wood glue and the saw dust from that stick to fill it in and help hold the crack close. Hope this helps.

@@MaskedJoey it helps, thanks man. My first stick was cut dead and it's got some large cracks, but the stick is still nice and solid. I'm gonna focus on cleaning them out as well as i can and seal it ... don't really trust the durability of filler in a stick i plan to wear to a nub eventually anyway :) this is my first try at crafting wood so your videos are a big help, just seeing how basic stuff is done, so thanks a ton
