I watched more reviews on ebikes than you can imagine and after watching the videos you did on the alpine e2 and how genuinely thrilled you were by the bike I pulled the trigger and bought one and I could not be happier. Cheers heaps mate.

Double Assegai….. hmmmm. I’ve gone back to DHF for the season ahead and after nearly 2 years with an Assegai up front, I instantly noticed that where the Assy starts to wanna let go, that’s the exact point the DHF hooks up and engages, feels like it wants me to get lower in the turns and engage the corner knobs to rail those turns plus it feels faster again too. I’m no elite rider but I like that feeling rather than adapting my riding style to suit something that’s popular. I’ve converted back to Minions! 😂

Great bike, I love mine. I've had the over-temp lights flash as well when I was on a 1000.+meter climb in +30C deg weather I'm 99kgs so that works the motor. No lasting problems, I just let it cool and kept riding.

Do you run flip chip on high with the 180 front? Does it bring it to about same head angle as if u were 170 and low? But with more pedal clearance?

I was also wondering how the bike would perform with a 180 fork...did you bump up the travel on the stock fork or bought a new one? I am between the Reign and the Alpine Trail E2.I shall bump up the travel in the fork to 170 if I end up with the Marin. Keep up the good work!

Do your trail’s really need a 180 Zeb ?
@mtbtelly5522

I don’t think so. Its more to manage and we don’t really need more than 170 up front for the majority of our trails. But its fun to go a little more yee ha up front

Hanging to get back on the bike. Been off for 4 weeks now due to fractured wrist. Have you ever run a DH casing Assegai up front? I'm super tempted

Yeah I tested the DH Assegai front and rear on the Patrol. In winter so softer soil mostly. They’re certainly stronger in the DH casing

@mtb , so after testing the new Zeb 23 & Fox 38 can you give us some feedback
@mtbtelly5522

I don’t have enough time on the new Zeb to really detail a comparison yet. But from the time spent so far I’d say the Charger 3 damper is let down by the thick 7wt damping oil making you set up the fork undersprung to keep the fork from feeling overdamped and harsh on the hands. Which causes a lot of stress on the damping unit as it is dealing with so much more force being undersprung. The new Zeb chassis and air spring with the old damper feels excellent. Supple and controlled and tunable. I think we’ll see a lot of people running a 5wt damping oil in their charger 3 dampers to improve performance and be able to lean a little more on spring support without getting beat up. The 38 is excellent when set up right, but many people struggle with it because of the highspeed rebound setup and the range of compression adjustment. In my opinion the 38 grip2 is currently the slightly better performer

So i should not upgrade to charger 3 damper if im light weight?

I’d like to spend more time on the new damper before recommending against it. It might be exceptionally good once set up right, but for now I’m not sure its necessary over the previous damper.

Glad I came across this video. I went from a lyrik ultimate charger 2.1 c1 spring to a Zeb charger 3 and been struggling with the set up for months. Loved the feeling of the lyrik but wanted a stiffer fork for rock gardens. I'm 70kg kitted up and found I've had to run 10 psi lower than what rockshox recommends, I'm at 50 psi and running rebound all the way open but still finding it slow and heavily damped. Compression wise I'm on the middle setting or baseline and that works well. I'm thinking about having a lighter tune done on the damper to hopefully speed up the rebound and have it feeling more like the precious lyrik. Look forward to your review of the new Zeb

@@bunthoeuntek1382 i’d ask for a 5wt or a 3wt damping fluid as the new charger 3 runs a 7wt fluid which is very thick, hence the slow rebound and constantly overdamped feeling. Too much resistance goes through the damper and not enough coming from the spring. I’m not sure of the intricacies of that damper but that a 5wt oil would be my first move if I had that fork

@@mtbtelly5522 thanks mate, appreciate the response. Let's see, hopefully the lighter weight fluid does the trick.
