@@SouthernBoySwimminUpstream If you can batch them out, you might be able to deal wholesale with a garden center near you. Good chance your quality is higher than theirs. You could possible keep your same price because they’re going to mark it up too.

Tried to leave you a comment and it doesn't seem to want to take it, but it contained a couple of links to sketchup and an instructor since I know it would serve you well to learn if you don't already know it. Sometimes it holds those comments for review since it had live links in it. You might check your comments on your channel page to see if it is there. I'm impressed with your can do attitude and your spirit!

@@SouthernBoySwimminUpstream You may have already tried it, but go to your dashboard and in the left column toward the top you will see comments and click that and then you will see near the top "held for review". If it's not there then I'm at a loss. Just suggesting Sketchup for you and a link to where you can still get the free version. If you don't already use it, it could be very beneficial for you. Sometimes youtube won't let links get thru.

Hi Jacob it's Pete from Wales UK, as you know all in my youth was don by hand yes we come to a staircase this was made from 9x1and a quarter, piranha pine you may wish to Google How to mark staircase out as it is difficult then using a tool like a spokeshave but a 1/2 inch blade stuck out the bottom ,to route out the groves etc.,having cut all pieces the one long side of the stair ( called the string) was laid down on the floor then the trees and risers were glued in place the othere string was fitted and concrete blocks were put on top while it was still on its side and left to dry approx 3days . To get measurements you measure from finished downstairs f.oor to upstairs finished floor that is called the rise then where the bottom tred finishes called the going, ( then hope it fits ha ha).

Hello Mr. Pete! That seems like it took a lot of skill and patience! You guys sure did know what y'all were doing! And what a process! Did you ever experience when it did not fit? And if you did, how would you fix it? Or did you have to restart? Thank you for sharing that with me Mr. Pete! Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Jacob regarding your question whether staircase ever went wrong when my tutor was looking over my shoulder nothing went wrong 68 staircase throughout my apprenticeship none went wrong, next thing was windows these were made from 2x4 ready planed ( yippee) the rebates were done with a rebate plane and the sashes were 2x3 ripped down and also rebated all were morticed and tendon. In those days the carpent also glazed them when fitted. The next job was skirting boards. A tip if your hand saw gets sticky with resin clean it with WD40.

THAT IS AMAZING! Out of 68 staircases, none went wrong! That is pure skill and diligence! Yeah, I bet having the 2x4 already planed in those days was a big blessing! Thank you Mr. Pete for that tip of using WD40 for cleaning sap off the saw blade! I will definitely use that knowledge!

If I do not have a table saw, what would can I use to make the line cuts on each board?
@SouthernBoySwimminUpstream
Жыл бұрын
Do you have a circular saw? If so, you could set the circular saw blade to a very shallow cut and use a straight edge or a strait board to guide your saw for a straight clean cut! Hope that helped! Thanks for stopping by!

@@SouthernBoySwimminUpstreamGood job! You might find it easier for the first sanding to sand the whole board before cutting. I like the idea of the grooves. Since you like using pickets...head on over to another southern boy Matthew Peech...I've learned a lot from him and he definitely likes using pickets too...

Glad to hear from you again! Yes, sanding the board first would be easier, so thank you for that tip! I like to watch Matthew Peech! He is actually the one who inspired me to use fence pickets! It is so much cheaper than buying the select boards! Thank you for commenting again!
