As one of the people who commented about the Hydra thing, I would like to say that I actually walked away from that video knowing more about the history of the Hydra story myself. Until I saw the video, the only stories I had known were the "two heads for every one" version. But I knew that Greek mythology changed over time, so I decided to look it up before leaving a comment. I still left a comment about it, but it was more along the lines of "the way you described it is only how some stories went." So we all learned a little something that day, so... mission accomplished either way, I guess.

As far a the Hydra goes, I would say that you were not wrong. This particular story is thousands of years old and myths tend to change from word of mouth. The first guy who told the story probably said "The Hydra has nine heads, and for every one that is cut off another takes its place." Then someone heard the story said "That's cool, but you know what would be cooler! For every head that is cut off three more take its place." It's hard to find any source material that gives a definitive answer when it comes to how many heads the Hydra has.

Regarding the hydra thing, as someone whose families come from cultures with strong folkloric traditions, it's very possible that certain families have their own versions of the stories that diverge from the commonly accepted one. Especially regarding the finer details. Considering how Greece started as a loose collection of kingdoms and city states, with each being their own separate yet related culture, it stands to reason that may be the case.

I think some people view all critiques as an attacka gainst their own tastes, and still watch critique videos. They're weird ^^' For the adaptation part, I think a quote of Alexandre Dumas, a french author known for badly adapting history, is a perfect fit "You're allowed to rape history, as long as you're making her beautiful children". Very poorly phrased, because he was a XIXth century man, but the idea is that the adaptation doesn't matter, as long as you make a good thing out of it. When your work is bad and adapt badly your source material, then the adaptation becomes a flaw, because you had a better story as a source material and managed to make it a bad story.

And I like it and could overlook most of the inaccuracies.. But Hades got done so. wrong. Hades was / is one of my favorite Greek gods. Chill, nice, often kind, doesn't go around earth molesting humans, just minds his own business, generally nice to the souls there. Loved his modern depiction in Lore Olympus of course. And to see him being treated as a stand-in for the christian devil was just... uff. And the Hera thing. Every time she appears in this movie its like a foghorn goes off in my brain. Nooooooooooooooo she haaated hiiiiiiiiim. I can't. I just can't. She is the one that gave him one of the most horrific deaths in all of greek mythology, that I think even Prometheus was probably wincing at. I can't even.. I think all the other weirdness I could overlook (well, maybe not the 'born a god' or the sudden-jesus-moment at the end) but as much as I like it..
