Good to see many of my questions answered, nice vid. On the trailers, I think you will have lost many of the audience with "A", "Dog" etc and the image didn't stay up long enough to consume the information. I suspect many watching have next to no industry knowledge so you can't assume they know what these terms are. Take time man, a KZitem channel becomes hard to fill with content after a while. You could instead do a whole video on trailers with images and real world shots, explaining lengths of each, coupling types, weights and where they can traverse.

a jake uses engine pressure to slow down engine speed. opening the exhaust valve just before top dead centre of the compression stroke. with the pressure released in the compression stroke the cylender has no compression to fire. its kind of like VTEC. exhaust brakes are differant again. think of exhaust brakes like a throttle body on the exhaust. restricting flow through the engine. thus slowing the engine speed.

Last trip I did, I had a car just stop in front of me at the lights near Eastern Creek BP to go onto the link road, I was going straight through to the M7. A solid blast of the air horns had him moving 😂 Also, what app do you use to track your driving time? That sounds like a good idea to take the guesswork or mental calculations out of when to stop for a break etc.

The taking passenger thing is not so common with most companies But Don Watson particularly do it and allow it due to them excelling in being a family owned business I don't know the full details about it but I only know because I seen it in a video from the grandson pretty cool. I remember as a kid going to Tamworth and Sydney and back Brisbane with my dad when he was a driver logs and worked for mills and general freight

Hi, I've started watching your videos, as with all viewers, there are alot of people that are interested in your job and /or getting into your career. Q. Fatigue is a well known massive problem within the transport industry, even though you get good sleep, there are times when you are still tired. How do you deal with this fatigued state when you have already had your rest breaks ? can you just pull over and have another break, or are you strictly under a time restraint for your delivery. I also see advanced fatigue management certified drivers can drive up to 14hrs, is there a limit as too the number of hours you drive in a week ?.
@crossfamilytrucking
Жыл бұрын
The best way to deal with fatigue is to pull over for a sleep mate our company doesn’t put pressure on us for deadlines so got it pretty good there 👍 there is a limit to what we can drive in a week but I don’t know it off the top of my head 👍
@scotty8150
Жыл бұрын
@@crossfamilytrucking Great to read that your company is accommodating your fatigue, and allowing such extra breaks, doing 12+hr shifts myself, its hard to stay as focused as you are at the start of your shift. Thanks for your reply, appreciated.

thanks man. answered a few more questions that weighs on my mind.. I have 6 months local experience. (singles and doubles). I definately dont know everything either. Furthest Ive gone is one trip to moree. You already answered my question about navigation for trucks. (you use google maps). I also use google maps however I have 12 year of driving around brisbane in small vehicles. So I know my way pretty much everywhere here. How do you know about routes that are restricted to your class/weight/danderous goods ect.. or is that more often a problem for locals..
@crossfamilytrucking
Жыл бұрын
Nah mate it’s always an issue with doubles and road trains especially if the roads closed for flooding or crashes finding your way around can get tricky but luckily we have people in the office that can give us our exact route because as you would know not every road is built for trucks 👍 but usually if you look up truck routes or road train routes for certain areas you’ll find where you can

Hi Jacques. In regards to the national driver work diary. When recording the prime mover licence plate number do you also have to record the trailer plate number as well? If so where do you write that in? Does that just go in comments section?? Sorry only ever driven rigid’s long distance and only new to trailers.

Na you just record the prime mover number, if you swap trucks on the same sheet you add the new plate number when you swap over
