"They don't do many miles in Japan" is true Matt. Almost everywhere in the country they have the best public transport so often only drive on weekends, and they generally always get their cars serviced at a dealer because they are risk averse. I have lived there on and off for over 30 years. Great country. Love your channel!

They also have massively oppressive emissions laws that basically make it too expensive to keep a car over 7 years old. They just cost too much to keep on the road. Again, a friend in Japan who found out the hard way. That’s why there are millions of cars sat rusting in industrial complexes waiting for exportation or to be scrapped.

I live in Japan on Okinawa island and i can confirm japanese just dont drive long distance trips. People use the train or fly. Plus car parking charges are so high and limited that most people dont commute to work. But the average person here has never opened the bonnet of their car and its a complete mystery to them. I helped my Aussie mate change his cam belt in his drive way and almost the entire street came to look at us and one guy even asked us if we had a licence to to it. The Shaken our MOT is also super strict too and bloody expensive. If i still lived up on the mainland i would film a car breakers for you as they are so clean and well organised.
@Jackthesmilingblack
5 ай бұрын
If you take the car for a Shaken at one of the few official facilities that handle this (rather than letting your local service station do it for you), the inspection takes five minutes. And if the car fails on something trivial, there are plenty of shops round the corner that will fix a blowing exhaust or realign the headlights. Of course you'll need Japanese literacy to fill out the forms. The number plate change is far simpler and cheaper.

I recently bought a 2018 Skoda Superb Estate 1.4TSi ACT DSG with 127k miles for £7500 and can't fault it. In the just under 2k miles I've done in the last 6 weeks I've averaged just over 43mpg. Ok so I cant speak for the long term reliability personally but...... Oh and in no way do I find t underpowered although admittedly it's no GTi :) Matt, if you would like to try one then I'm not a million miles away from you near Leigh The only issue I have with it (which from research is common to many VAG products) is an Intermittent "SOS Error. Please contact dealer" however so far it's always cleared itself and other than a temporary orange triangle of impending doom has no effect on the cars operation (the green light by the coms button remains illuminated at all time suggesting the SOS functionality is actually available and this is more likely just an initialisation issue (eg maybe not getting proper cell coverage)

It's absolutely true of a lot of business. Even in my business of nightclubs in London, January and February are notorious at being dead; yet they have been busy. March was dead and the proverbial dodo, but we put this down to credit card bills coming up and the first rent quarter. Since Covid, business has been a rollercoaster and everything is turned on it's head. Bank Holidays were our bread and butter but now they are the quietest times of the year. But yes, you really do need to pan out the P&L's over twelve months. It is is interesting to hear and read how your business and my business seem to follow the same traits despite them being totally utterly different other than the gratification people get from buying a new car and having a fun night out.

Thanks for your candid insights into the motor trade. To Dave in Bromwich re Volvo V70. I have one and I would not hesitate to recommend it. I went for the D5 having tried an S80 with the D4 and an XC60 D4 also. I found the XC underpowered and a little too vague with handling. The D4 is not so smooth as the 5-cyl. The V70 is not sporty at all but strikes a good balance in terms of power/weight/comfort and handling in my opinion. Personally I'd avoid the D3. Don't be put off with the cam belt - it actually has advantages insofar as you know it's been done every 50k. The rear trailing arm bush brackets are known to corrode and need periodic replacement. Be careful if it's been towing (many have). Otherwise a solid car in my opinion.

I am very hopeful that BYD will expand to many more CEE countries eg Slovakia, Romania, etc.

They are hot. Damn hot as they have a tendency to catch fire. We have a dealer near us and for nearly a year the cars just sat there covered in cobwebs. They seem to have sold a couple now. There has been a warning sent out by our fire service to only charge them when they are outside and away from structures. I haven't heard of any exploding but I know in China it is a regular occurrence.

Car vertical is like any other check, it’s only good if the insurance has bothered to put a damaged car on the register, and some don’t even bother and some leave it months before doing so. Same applies if the car owner does have his/hers insurance company involved in its repair!! You can get a accident damaged car even from a main dealership so I wouldn’t waste my money on car vertical or any other such thing!! And whatever you do don’t pay for the AA or the RAC because it’s not even them that do the check, they contract it out.. people should read what other people say about the AA check, it’s absolutely disgraceful.. better off having your local garage check the car or better still if you have a friend in the trade…

I love the Properties channel, very interesting to me as its something I'd like to get into. I didn't think it was the least bit braggy! Very informative, very open and genuine. I understand about the telling too much, you did go into good detail, and I'd like to have seen even more in depth to it, but I get you want some privacy! Great q&a and please..... more disgruntled customer stories! 😂😂😂
